Blake Snell Not Available In FAAB Going Forward

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Thu Aug 08, 2019 12:26 pm

As die-hard NFBC owners know, we rarely pull a player from the free agent pool as we want the leagues to play out. However, every once in a while we have to make a tough decision about player availability right before FAAB runs.

It happened this year and we chose to err on the side of caution.

In late July when we weren't sure how serious the Blake Snell elbow injury was, he was cut by a couple of teams and became available in FAAB. A decision was made internally that it was too risky to make the reigning Cy Young Award winner available in only a few leagues before knowing exactly how long he would be out, so he remained on our internal No Add List. Once we did that for a couple of leagues, we had to keep him out of FAAB for all leagues going forward.

Blake Snell can be cut by any owner, but for the rest of this season he won't be available in FAAB in any league. Again, we chose to err on the side of caution, even though now it looks like after having elbow surgery he could return in early to mid-September. If he's cut going forward, he will not be allowed to be picked up by anyone.

Sorry for not explaining this in more detail before Sunday's FAAB run as we did hear from a few owners who didn't understand the ruling. Thanks all and best of luck the rest of the way.
