My vote is for as late as possible. March 29 works for me. If not March 22 still ok. Easter won't stop me.

1) March 15 is two weeks before Opening Day, just like every NFBC event before it.
2) March 15 conflicts with far fewer local leagues and avoids overlap with the CDM deadline.
3) March 15 avoids the HUGE problem of setting lineups after the games have started. If there is a data entry mistake on March 15, there is plenty of time to fix it.
4) With no NCAA tournament on March 15, Greg can teach everyone in Vegas his highly lucrative method of wagering on NBA games. Testimonial: I earned a 90% profit using The Greg Ambrosius NBA Wagering System™ last weekend. (OK, it was a $9 profit on a $10 bet, but still…)

I'm Catholic and I still don't understand how Easter can come so early!!
Christmas doesn't fall on Dec. 25th one year and November 28th the next year, right?
Sheesh.

Okay, if you had a choice between the 15th and the 29th of March, which one would you choose? Just realize that on the 29th we wouldn't have all rosters inputted before Opening Day and you'd have to set your Week 1 lineup after the draft.
March 15th??
March 29th?? why are most of us even in the NFBC? Mainly because we were introduced to fantasy baseball through our local leagues. Of which many of us still play. Since Easter is 22/23 the 29/30 will be huge for the local leagues. I KNOW the NFBC is a great event and worth every penny. But to a new entrant given the choice between the two I'm sure they'd stick to the league they've been in for years. That's a downside I can see to Mar 29.
Q [/QUOTE]Very good point. I am in a lge that drafts that weekend every year, and it does seem the most popular time for most drafts. I'l also rather not wait a week to see stats. I like Mar 15 better, but I could live with either.

why have we ruled out the weekend of the 22 as an option so soon, looks to then the 29 is the only option which presents a lot of problems. the thur-sat easter weeekend should be given consideration.

29th for me. The 15th/16th are my travel days with the dog from southern Fla back to NJ.
Setting lineups at the draft is no problem. The other event does it for football for week 1 as they draft the day before the first Sunday games. Just indicate bench players ...easier to mark 7 than mark 23

So what if they're loaded a day or two after the first game is played as long as the player stats and scores show up once the rosters are loaded. IMO that's the best option. If you had drafted Rafael Furcal, would you stil be ok with setting a roster without knowing if one of your starters was injured?

Right now the answer is easy, these two weeks of waiting for the season to start is Hell!
The 29th would also make more sense for the NFBC, an extra two weeks for another league or two.

Good point about our existing leagues. Your right I wouldn't give up my existing league for the NFBC. I knew it was to easy to be true. Back to the 15th. You can't draft on Easter weekend, while for many it won't be a problem you would take a huge hit to your numbers from anyone with a family. It is not all about Easter Sunday but the whole thing starting on Good Friday. Just when you were building momentum.

The 15th keeps it consitent with years past.
The 29th is my 2nd choice.
Easter weekend seems like a really bad idea.

There is hotel space available on the 15th in Las Vegas, but that is a tough weekend with ConExpo in town. Still, it's doable and we're working on a hotel room block right now at the Flamingo. We'll see how that plays out.
I just talked with STATS and it's also doable to enter rosters on the 29th. It's a lengthy process, however, to enter rosters and then have one of us go in and set all starting lineups. Again, it's doable but it's not ideal. But hosting this on the 29th would provide plenty of time to allow more teams to enter.
As for local leagues, if we know the date well in advance hopefully that will help everyone adjust. We can never appease everyone and in some cases we'll lose some valuable members no matter which weekend we choose. Again, hopefully your league mates will understand and draft on Sunday of that weekend or another weekend. If not, well, we were damned either way.
I still don't know what we'll do, but at least the options are getting better.
Kenny, do you think the CDM guys will still go to Las Vegas on Easter weekend? Maybe they would also switch weekends since so many guys would be affected. Just a thought.

And as Headhunters sad maybe those that took Furcal may not have taken him so early. Yes injuries happen, but why pay $1300 and have your season possibly decided before it starts. What if Furcal's leg is broken? Fortunatly I don't have him, but I have said for years. Somebody's really going to get screwed with a big draft like this 2 weeks before the season. Eventually it will happen. Then you'll have at least 1 of every 15 customers very unhappy.

Values of players change to much in the last 2 weeks of spring tranning.
If I had a vote it would be March 29th.

March 29th vote here!
ConExpo jacks the hotel rates through the roof! WAY too many people in town for that event.
We keep march maddness!
We have more time to see who earns which job, and who gets hurt.
More time for signups.
No delay...INSTANT GRATIFICATION...you draft one day...a couple days later your stats begin counting. (I could care less about seeing a leaderboard for 5 days.)
Ask your local league buddies a one year favor to have the draft a week early this year.
March 29th!!!

well said lance!!! 100-500 dollar local league or a chance to win 100k, easy answer. move up the local leagues or drop out and do auction leagues or ultimate leagues in vegas. all i remember people saying this past weekend after the drafts were over was "lets get em swinging" and "i hope to avoid a major injury before the season starts". draft saturday and sunday and they are hackn sunday night. stick around in vegas for a couple of extra days and see all season openers. sounds like a plan!!! one mans opinion

Sheesh. Here's the answer:
Easter is the first Sunday after the first full moon that occurs after the spring equinox. (or is it the new moon?)Anyway, a look at the calendar you'll see the full moon and the equinox both fall on the same day (21st --Friday) and... viola....Easter the next Sunday
Just a little more food for thought, as I am in a 2-religion marriage, Passover is on the day of that moon and goes forward, for all our Jewish brethren.

HUGE preference for March 29th. Not even close in my mind. More time for customers to enter, less injury/pt role risk (look what's happened this week already...Furcal, Mauer, Papelbon, Quentin, etc. and there's another 10 brutal days to sweat!) Draft as late as humanly possible. I am more than happy to stay a few minutes after the draft and select my roster. This should be very simple as the Spring Training uncertainty will be gone. NFBC should not worry about local leagues. The Elephant does not concern himself with the ant. They will make the adjustment. PLEASE.....MARCH 29th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Greg,
Either 29th or 15th...
29th would be somewhat risky if a there was question as to line up eligibility, etc.
Setting line up after draft may work though. Last minute draft takes away the "grab who will win the position battle, etc."
I don't go to Vegas, but if the 15th is a serious problem for those that do, then the 29th would seem like the best choice.
If you are forced to go with Easter weekend, can you please do a large satellite league? I would definitely miss Ultamite.

15h vs 29th, I would prefer the 29th. And I am confident the cdm crew would prefer going to Vegas while there is tourney action. Without it, some would pass.
