Hi,
What is the status for Ohtani this year? How will NFBC handle him? Apologies if I missed this but I did a search and all I could find was for 2018/2019
Thanks
Chris

Re: Ohtani 2020
Oh, there's plenty of Ohtani threads. Either search for Ohtani or Doughboys!!

Ohtani has UT and Pitcher eligibility in 2020. Owners decide at the beginning of the week if you want him as your UT or one of your pitchers. You can't switch him out mid-week as a Pitcher to get him as a Hitter, but obviously you can move him out on Friday from your UT position for someone else.
He's one player with two positions. You determine where you want to use him at the beginning of the week, but you don't get stats for both hitting and pitching. Hope that helps.

On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

Re: Ohtani 2020
We need a better method of calculating his worth next season. He should be two distinct players, Ohtani the Hitter and Ohtani the Pitcher. If you draft Ohtani the Hitter in round eight, you get Ohtani the Pitcher as your last draft pick, be it in round 50 or round 30. This way, you can start him as a pitcher and also use him as a DH in the same scoring period. I know there are people who believe he shouldn't count as two roster spots, but this a workable compromise that won't give IT any headaches.

Thanks Greg, I figured that this was somewhere but Google kept going to a 2018/2019 thread.
I understand the approach and it is fine. Personally, I wish he could truly be a true 2-way player as he is in real-life. He would take 2 slots - one pitching and 1 hitting. You would start him in UT and he would take a pitching slot for the week. That would give you the closest to real life stats accumulation. Per my response on the 163rd game, if MLB gives a player stats, then Fantasy should reflect in IMHO. I do understand though that this approach would take coding and for only 1 real 2 way player, not worth it
Thanks for the quick response
