29 is a prime number and it's appropriate that Rod Carew honors that number today. He was one of a kind, one of the purest hitters in baseball history. The sweet-swinging lefty won seven AL batting titles and hit .330 or better 10 different times. TEN. He won the 1977 AL MVP when he batted .388 with 14 homers, 100 RBIs, 23 stolen bases and 128 runs scored for the Twins. The Hall of Famer also made the All-Star team in 18 of his 19 MLB seasons. He was one of the very best.
