Gaming the system?

Post by Spyhunter » Mon Apr 23, 2007 4:15 pm

I have Wang. I noticed that sense he comes off the DL tomorrow just before his start, if someone wanted to game the DL / Friday rule, they easily could. they could have set him to start before 7pm today, then tonight, put him back on the bench. this would have allowed people to avoid the nasty start at Boston

Anyway, I hope this isn't happening because the Friday DL rule is great

RTKS has posted this on the other thread, so I guess the thread will continue there

Spy I don't think this would work Chris - yes they could have started him this week, but when the second period was set to run he would no longer be on the DL and therefore the move would not be legal and I don't think it would go through the system at STATS.

It would certainly work.

1. of Monday morning, Wang was DL

2. Wang was still DL once line ups were set

3. As of Monday night, I could move Wang to the Bench for Friday-Sunday period

This would have given me the Tampa start and avoided the Boston one!

Anyway, Greg has addressed in the other forum.

It is what it is, people will just have to play honorably

Chris, from STATS concerning Wang:

If the player is removed from the DL before the Thursday night deadline, then he would not be able to be moved to the bench. Just because he's on the DL at the Monday deadline, doesn't mean he can be moved to the bench on Friday if he's removed from the DL during the week.

I think in this case, Wang has not yet officially been activated so he's still officially on the DL. So, someone could still bench him right now because he's officially still on the DL. If they wait until later in the week, though, when he's no longer on the DL, they would no longer be able to move him to the bench.

In this particular case, I wouldn't want Wang facing Tampa either. The Devil Rays don't have the pitching, but they do have the batters.
