The MTM NFBC Vegas Party & Midnight Madness Draft Reutrns for Its 9th Amazing Year!

Post by Baseball Furies » Sun Feb 09, 2025 3:23 pm

No NFBC Vegas experience would be complete without the Annual NFBC MTM Vegas Party and Midnight Madness Draft and this year will be no different! With the blessing in disguise of the wrecking ball coming down on the Mirage, we thankfully will be back in the suites this year this time at the Aria (link below to check out the room), Friday Night, March 21st with all the festivities kicking off at 9:00 p.m. PST. I'll be there to set up early, so feel free to get to the room as early as 8:30 to get a jump start on the evening. There will be the usual food, open bar and beverages, and of course a few hours of revelry and best camaraderie with some of the best people in the NFBC give or take a few.

But most importantly, you get to meet and spend quality time with a true NFBC institution (who should be in one by now at my age): The Godfather of the NFBC! Always a blast that goes into the wee hours of the morning culminating in the historic Midnight Madness Draft with the equally historic Carter Gill Experience in addition to a veritable Rogue's Gallery of NFBC die-hards going at it in drunken hilarity with enough good-natured personal abuse and antagonism to go around for all! It's only $125 all in for everything with Greg having generously sold off all of Darik's stock options to foot the majority of the bill for us.   So, hope to see everyone there, but this will be on a first come, first served basis as we will be capping it off at about 60 attendees due to space limitations in the suite and me having to potentially deal with another hotel security detail again wanting to bust things up if it all gets too out of hand. 8-)

So, make your plans now and don't miss out! Here's the part sign-up link with the list esteemed guest below:

Aria Suite: https://aria.mgmresorts.com/en/hotel/ex ... suite.html

Party Sign-up Link: https://nfc.shgn.com/signup/baseball/LVFNP

MTM Party Guest List:

1. MTM
2. Greg Ambrosius
3. Dalton Del Don
4. Brian Jenner
5. Zack Waxman
6. Jason Wanic
7. Carter Gill
8. Craig Williams
9. Rich Zito
10. Marc Winokur
11. Mike Mager
12. Jason Santeiu
13. Brian Entrekin
14. Ryan Bloomfield

And yes, it wouldn't be a true bash out in Vegas Friday night at the Aria if there wasn't a draft to cap it all off! Originally my idea was to make it a Main Event, but I just had too much pushback from would be participants saying it was much too late past their bedtimes and that excessive alcohol and sleep deprivation would make drafting a Main prohibitive. Damn bunch of lightweights! :P Maybe someday. Nice warm up going into the live Mains the next morning. So to be clear, this a standalone satellite 12-team league with FAAB as an OC with a $750 entrance fee that pays top two, $6000/$2000. It's really 11 competitors and one Carter Gill, so the odds are in your favor again going in. So who wants a piece of this action that night? Live "iron balls" draft spot draw is about 11:45 and the draft kicks off shortly afterwards. Maybe one break and we're done by 2:00 a.m. which still gives everyone plenty of rest with the Main Events not kicking off until 11:00 a.m. later that morning. It's Vegas, baby, so suck it up! Here are the list of degenerate drafters so far. Sign up link below!

I agree with Mike, this should be a lot of fun and we'll cap this off at 60 people. The space isn't big enough for more than that.

We had unlimited space the last two years at the Mirage, first with the Portofino room (beautiful space!!!!) and then last year in part of another Mirage restaurant. We had around 90 people both years and the setup was ideal for a large crowd and the MTM Midnight Madness draft afterwards.

When the Mirage closed down, I tried to find something similar at or near Park MGM, but Park MGM doesn't have any Executive Suites or restaurants that we could rent out. One option was to rent out the bar in the sportsbook like we do for football, but because it is First Weekend of March Madness the hotel didn't want to do that.

I then called the Bellagio to secure the Executive Penthouse Suite that we've used before, but they informed me that they have turned all of those with the boardrooms into suites with pool tables. There are no longer Bellagio Executive Penthouse Suites with the boardroom, 12 chairs and a TV in that side room. They are all now suites with pool tables, which limits the space we normally can have for the party and the draft.

So I then called Aria and found that they have Executive Penthouse suites similar to what the Bellagio had with a boardroom that has 12 seats and a TV. It's a few hundred feet smaller than the Bellagio's Executive Penthouse suite, but it has a fantastic view of The Strip and enough space for 50-60 people to talk about baseball for 3+ hours. The draft will easily be held in that boardroom at midnight.

We still have some work to do with catering, but we'll worry about that once we know how many people are coming. You can walk to the Aria from Park MGM as you just go up one escalator, cross the hall and go down the next escalator to the Aria. We'll give you directions how to find the suite elevators and make sure everyone has easy access to the party room. More on all of that once I get out there because I've never been to one of these suites.

Talk to Mike about drink requests and the rest, but sign up when you can because space is definitely limited. We're not just saying that. I think 60 is pushing it in this suite, but let's fill it up and have some fun. See you there!!!

Well, since Mike has stopped watching those "Hee-Haw" reruns long enough to set this up (and thanks Greg), I guess I am in for the party!

Okay, we've reached our max of 60 people in this Aria Penthouse Executive Suite and the party is now full. Heck, with staffers up there we're probably over the limit and likely to get kicked out!!! We'll have them escort MTM out first to give us a little more room!!!

Thanks everyone. I'm going over to the Aria today to get more information on the room, the elevator everyone needs to take up to the room and directions to the elevator. I'll email everyone this week with all of that information, along with a drink list we have ordered with our bartender and times of food. We have the bartender from 9 pm to midnight, so come thirsty!!!
