With all the discussion on the Cust situation, I think we have all overlooked one comment that begs to have a specific question answered... Eddie wrote, and I must quote:

Megadeth RulesMy question...

What was your favorite Megadeth song?

Mine is

In my Darkest Hour.

Eddie - They have to be one of the most under appreciated bands of the 80's and 90's. Dave Mustaine was a great guitar player who never got the credit he needed. I saw them 3 times...twice on Clash of the Titans (W/Slayer, Anthrax and Alice in Chains) and once at Ozz Fest.

Excellent band! :D

Here's Greg's favorite: Peace Sells (But Who's Buying?) hahahaha...rough 24 hours...

I saw the tour in Philly and then down in Fayetteville, NC.

When Megadeth came on stage, do you remember the recording that was playing? "anybody caught outside the gates after curfew will be shot..."

And then they went into Wake Up Dead...

Awesome...althought I liked Slayer more.

Cool that you won. Miss those days.

I just took my 11 year old son to see the Heaven and Hell tour in Lowell mass last thursday. It was frigging unreal, Megadeth played for over an hour and i stood head banging with my kid.We where both sporting are Black Sabbath tshirts, and are matching Guns and Roses leather jackets.Ive taken him to Kiss , Iron Maiden , and the Ozz Fest with Geezer and Iommi.Your not going to believe this but Grant's favorite Megadeth song is Peace sells but who's buying.

I have a couple ,Sweating Bulletts,In my darkest hour, and my favorite Symphony of Destruction. They did a couple off there new album and Washington is next braught down the house. It's so cool doing concerts again , cause my kid just loves it , great bonding time and to find out i still have a little left in the Tank.

Megadeth Rules.

Eddie - great stories.

My first concert was AC/DC in '89 - the Blow Up My Video Tour.

Some of my favorite concerts...Pantera, Slayer, Soundgarden, Rage Against the Machine, Primus, but one of favorite moments had to be me my first stage dive during a Suicidal Tendencies concert...

Keep rocking, Eddie...never saw Van Halen, but sure they must have been great.

I'm jealous of anyone who has had the privilege of seeing Primus live. What a rhythm section! Unfortunately, I always find out about their shows right AFTER they occur.

Best Megadeath song - Holy Wars.

Can't pinpoint one band as the best live band, but some of the better shows I've seen.....Incubus, Tool, and H.R. come to mind.

They are quite good live -- is there a better voice in music than Peter Steele? Certainly not a deeper one! Two of my favorites are their re-makes of Summer Breeze and Cinnamon Girl. Check 'em out if you can.

A post for Southern-Fried Rock.

My first concert was Atlanta Rhythm Section who was the first act, then Charlie Daniels Band, then Lynard Skynard. The lights went down, the smoke went up!

Well, I did go see the "Brady Kids" on tour first, but that was because I had a crush on Eve Plumb, but that is anohter story. Damn, I am SOOOO white bread!

Gotta give some love to the southern rock bands.

Nothing like a Lynyrd Skynyrd, Outlaws, Molly Hatchet, Marshall Tucker, .38 Special, or Allman Brothers concert.

Saw Van Halen with Sammy Hagar. Dang good version of the band. Did see David Lee on his own which of course sounded like Van Halen. Pretty good too.

And since we're talking about rock don't forget Deep Purple. One of he best show I saw them at was in Providence on their Perfect Stranger tour in the 80's. At least I think it was pretty good but that may have been Jack Daniels induced! :D

Hello Me it's me again.Loving the ROCK stories.

I remember buying the Lynyrd Skynyrd album Street Survivors in the late 70's and about a week later the plane crashed and Ronnie Van Zandt was dead, and so was Skynyrd. The album had them covered in flames which was a little scary.

They decided to change the album cover with no flames. So having the orignal album cover would be worth some money today.About a year after i had one of the originals , somebody stole it.

THAT'S ROCK N ROLL.

Liquidhippo-

Primus was great. I never thought they got their due respect. My only complaint was they didn't do Tommy the Cat, but still amazing.

Sportsbettingman -

Danzig was cool. Saw him/them in a little club in Philly when their first album came out. People kept jumping on the stage and security would carry them off the back to the left and kick them out. During "She Rides," a nice looking redhead got on stage and Danzig sang to her. She was escorted off to the right, which is also where the band left after the show. Good for him!

As for the Southern Rock - my father was in military and when I lived in Camp Lejeune, NC, the military sponsored a concert. I saw Lynyrd Skynard, Ted Nugent, Joe Walsh and Drivin N' Cryin.

The show was great. It was free to get into for military. Skynyrd rocked, Nugent shot arrows into his guitar, but the best "surprise" to me was Joe Walsh. Life's Been Good was incredible live.

First concert - Billy Idol at Six Flags in Atlanta. Believe it or not, it flippin' rocked. Got it on with my high school gf with her best friend sleeping in the bed next to us and my best friend crashed on the floor... I will never forget that night. And the concert rocked! Steve Stevens was truly an awesome performer as well as a very good guitar player.

It was simply the most amazing experience ever. If you never saw them then you missed out. Even old as hell they knocked it out. Changed my life...

The worst ever was Bob Dylan. I live in Chattanooga, TN, and I can tell you that Dylan didn't give a sh!t about this place. It was like 45 minutes long and he raced through everything. I swear he played everything double tempo. God, it sucked.

Jack Straw that story was hilarious , it least you got the girl and your friend the hangover.

NOW THAT'S ROCK N ROLL.

Also Deep Purlpe with Ritchie Blackmore was Heavy Metal before Heavy Metal. He was a amazing guitarist.

Keep bringing the Rock Stories, come on guys my kid loves this thread , and comes home from school to see if there is a new stories.

He also told me that my favorite concert was in 1978 not 1979.I asked him how do you know that, he said Van Halen first tour was 1978 with Sabbath, it's amazing how he knows this stuff.

In Atlanta, we have an open air amphitheatre at Chastain Park. Very small, very intimate venue. We have seen a ton of people there including Lou Rawls, Al Green, Tony Bennett, James Taylor, Bonnie Raitt. Not exactly rock/heavy metal, I know.

However, we also saw Sheryl Crow there. Nice concert, but the fun part of the story was this was the last event on her tour that year, so Sheryl was in a very festive mood. While the opening band was playing, Sheryl came out on stage in her bikini and danced for a couple of songs. One of the few times I actually used the binoculars we always bring to these events....

They kept saying ZZ Top was going to blow us all away. Nope! Blue Oyster Cult was the band that night.

Blue Osyter Cult (aka Soft White Under Belly) at the Channel night club in Boston in the mid 80's was a site to behold. I could only imagine why the fire department didn't shut the place down for overcrowding! LOL Probably was the fact they were there partying too! ROFL

Saw many a shows at the Channel sad to see it go. Greg Alman, BOC, Til Tuesday, Megadeth in their early stages, Marshall Tucker Band, Molly Hatchet. The place could really rock. Not too many places like that around any more.

Ok, here's the one I hate to admit...Jan 10, 1992...Pantera was opening up for Skid Row in Fayetteville, NC. I went with several friends (boys and girls) and my girlfriend.

My best friend and I loved Pantera. After they played, he went outside to see if he could find Pantera and hang out with them. I drove my car and he drove his. We each had full cars. Anyway, he asked to have my keys in case he couldn't get back in. (It was freezing out and his car didn't have heat.)

I stayed with everyone else and watched Skid Row (actually not that bad.) When the concert was over, we all went ooutside. I didn't see my buddy, so I headed to my car...empty. His car was also empty. Here we are, looking for him. Walking through a colesium parking lot really sucks, especially in the cold, with a girlfriend, who's parents are away for the weekend. (I was 17! :)

We split up to find him (which made no sense, since we didn't have cell phones then...anyway, as my girlfriend, myself and her two girlfriends were looking, we got closer to the tour bus area.

Of course, as we walk up, there's my friend, standing next to Dime Bag. I was so pissed by the time I found him. He said, "Look who it is" and pointed at Darrell. I said, "Hello" turned to my friend and said, "Give me my f***ing keys." (I know, total azzhole move)

Anyway, I went home (2 hour ride, dropped of another friend, girl friend's two friends and went back to her place...first time I took a bath with a girl...great, right?) well, ok, that night was, but next day, I go over to hang out with my best friend...his head is shaved. he got on Pantera's tour bus, with my other friends who rode with him. they hung out for an hour or so. Pantera's singer, Phil, shaved a few of their heads, which they videotaped. It's in Pantera's home video...Vulgar Display of Power.

I missed it to be with my girlfriend - like I said, I was 17 and it was love - going to last forever, right? WRONG! A few months later, she cheated on me several times and we were done.

My only consolation to missing out on being in their home video...after she cheated on me, I did her best friend...high school  ...got to miss it

Eddie, tell your kid to let that be a lesson to him! :D

Unreal real story , especially that your friend could find dimeback and hang out.I would have been pissed off too, him having the keys and not caring. The moral to this story is you got her girlfriend , so you win.

Grant will hear that version.
