I understand these guys are usually not planning on fighting...and apparently never have trained to fight...but after all the years of watching baseball players attempt to fight...I sure hope they never get into a real fight where it doesn't get broken up in a heartbeat...they all generally suck.

Come to think of it...the better fight I've seen was Nolan Ryan giving someone a "noogy"...pretty pathetic.

It got me thinking...for example this latest Derek Lee vs. Chris Young attempt.

What would happen if...due to a players actual ability to aim a swing...Lee knocked Young flat out with a hay-maker? Would he get WAY longer of a suspension? I'll guess you super fans of baseball can recall some fights where someone actually got beat up a bit...Did the penalties get stronger? Did they get punished for being able to fight?

Chris Young has been pitching great , had 3 scoreless innings going then one swing from that punk bitch and my man is out of the game.WHY, he was just defending himself , had a good day going.

I remember back a few years now, maybe about 10, Benitez with still with Baltimore. He hit Tino Martinez in the back right betwee the numbers. Benches cleared, there was some of the usual baseball fighting. Benitez looked like he was challening the whole Yankee team, thrwoing his arms up. He went down into the dugout and then from the side - "WHAM" (best Batman show impersanation)...STrawberry caught him in the side of the jaw and knocked him on his azz.

Don't remember the suspension...but what I do remember is that I hated Benitez (still do) and was happy to see him get pounded, even if it was a cheap shot.

Bill 'Spaceman" Lee suffered a serious shoulder injury during a melee with the Yankees in 1976. Graig Nettles took him to the ground and he landed on his pitching shoulder as I recall. Not sure what kind of suspensions were handed out back then.

Goof fight info-- Ryan giving a noogie to Robin Ventura -- Pedro throwing Don " the gerbil" Zimmer to the ground -- as for basketball Tree Rollins biting Ainge's finger-- and Kermit Washington defending himself against Rudy T ( Rudy charged Kermit from across the floor to block him from the melee going on and Kermit turned and landed one punch--suspended for the year and Rudy T spent a year having facial surgery.

Ramon Colon also needs mentioning ( one puch to a teammate last week) suspended for at least 10 days, possible jail time, lawsuit, and the guy he hit is having a titanium plate put into his face. Ramon has zero fantasy value.

Baseball Fights

The best are between teammates. I remember the Angels got into it years ago with some team. There was Don Baylor, out there looking to actually do some damage. All the players were charging at someone. Not one would get near Don Baylor. LOL!

Than there was the time Don Sutton and Steve Garvey of the Dodgers got into it in the locker room. Garvey didn’t make out so well.

Its been going on since the game has been played

Its part of the game.
