MATT MORRIS,TRADE OF THE YEAR?
I KNOW IT HAS BEEN OVER A WEEK SINCE THE PIRATES TRADED FOR MORRIS BUT THE MORE I THINK ABOUT IT THE MORE IT BOTHERS ME. YES MAYBE IT MAKES SENSE TO HAVE A CAGEY VET AROUND THE YOUNG GUNS, BUT FOR THAT MUCH MONEY? I MEAN THEY COULD HAVE SPEND THAT MONEY IN THE FREE AGENT MARKET FOR A LOT MORE VALUE. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A GOOD WEEK FOR THE PIRAATE GM TO GIVE UP ACID. WHAT ARE YOUSE GUYS THOUGHTS?

I think it is an awful trade. It make no sense. Morris is nothing more than an inning eater now. If the Gaints were paying a certain percentage of his salary, you could live with it. If I was a Pirate fan, I wouldn't be happy.

Dreadful. Sabean's eyes must have lit up at the acceptance of that trade. The Pirates lower tier free agent budget for next year had to have taken a hit. I can't think of a single benefit for the Pirates.
It rivals the Astro's Tavares, Hirsh, and Buccholz for Jennings deal as a headshaker.

It must be very bleak being a Pirates fan. The team is severely limited by economics, yet what little resources they do have go to waste dealing for the likes of Matt Morris. Sad.

Obviously, the Pirates felt they needed a grizzled injury prone vet to mentor their young injury riddled starters in the art of being injury prone.
I actually like what Tampa did -- fortifying their bullpen even though they aren't going anywhere as it helps the better starters learn how to win. But the Morris deal is quite curious.
