DL Players For Week 25

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Wed Sep 19, 2007 4:27 am

We will allow these players to have a DL designation next to them this week as they were deemed out for the season this week:

Chris Duncan

Chad Tracy

Danys Baez

Chris Sampson

Neal Musser

There won't be a DL designation next to them, but you will be allowed to move them from your starting lineup to your reserve roster and replace them with a reserve player as long as your team meets the position eligibility requirements. Good luck all.

???

I'm assuming this isn't the entire list. There could be additions for this week, correct? Midnight on Thursday is that date/time constraint, correct, just like any other week.

These are the players we added this week to what was already added last week. We will add more tomorrow and send out another e-mail if needed. Guys like Jonathan Sanchez we're still waiting for more information on before adding anyone else to the list. We'll finalize this tomorrow and will post any additions here first and send out another e-mail if needed.

Kind of crazy to have a DL list update when there isn't even 15 days left in the season. ;)

I really don't like these lists. I think the only players who should be consider are players who get hurt during the current week(Monday thru Thursday). Players like Duncan, Baez, and Tracy have been hurt before this week. No owner should have them in their line-up. If they do, they failed on their end to do their homework.

September should be a month when the owner decide when it is time to move on from a player. If they do not sit a hurt player from the previous week, they shouldn't be rewarded because they hoped he would play.

James Shields has been "shut down" for the remainder of the season, does he go on the NFBC DL?

Let me ask you this duke: Would the devil rays "shut down" shields in the middle of the season if he didn't need to go on the DL?

just an fyi - i don't think shields is eligible for the DL. i'm simply wondering how it would be handled if this happened at the end of august.

Hopefully, teams don't shut down pitchers in the middle of the season because they are worried about the number of innings they've pitched. That's what is happening here.

greg: having been put through the grinder this year, i'd suggest that you drop the Sept DL rule next year. in some cases it can be too subjective, and i KNOW it's time consuming to administer this rule.

[/QUOTE]It's not my job to make sure every owner is managing his/her team correctly, Shawn, just adhering to the rules. You might be surprised each week how many owners do replace a DL guy from their starting roster that they forgot about on Monday. It happens all season long and last week was no exception.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll consider it. I understand the pluses and the minuses of it and yes it is tough to administer. But I can see how it works if I'm doing my job right. We'll see about 2008.

"Bochy confirmed that left-hander Jonathan Sanchez, who strained his left oblique muscle Tuesday, won't pitch again this season."

If you were depending on Sanchez, you gotta be in big trouble anyway.
