Peter Plati III Wins Week 25 Prize

Post by Tom Kessenich » Mon Sep 24, 2007 2:22 am

Congratulations to Peter Plati III whose Plati-puses team in New York League 4 topped the NFBC field last week with 3,096 points.

Aramis Ramirez (3 HRs, 10 RBIs), Chipper Jones (.440-1-7), Delmon Young (.320-1-6-2) and Albert Pujols (7 RBIs in 6 ABs) led the way offensively. On the mound, Aaron Harang, Kevin Correia, Edinson Volquez and Miguel Batista combined for 46 strikeouts and three wins while Joe Nathan picked up a pair of saves.

For finishing first last week, Peter wins a Tom Seaver signed baseball courtesy of Upper Deck Authenticated. Congratulations again to Peter and good luck to everyone in the final week of the 2007 NFBC.

Peter Plati III Wins Week 25 Prize

All season long, Peter Plati III has been scrambling to get the pitching he needed to compete in the NFBC. Injuries and poor performances have left his pitching production at a less than desirable level.

But for one week, the stars all lined up perfectly and Plati’s pitching came together. And that helped his Plati-puses team in New York League 4 top the NFBC field last week with 3,096 points.

“It was a nice surprise to wake up Monday morning to see that, for one week at least, my team was the best in the best fantasy sports competition in the country.”

Plati has some surprising pitching performances to thank for that. On the mound, Aaron Harang, Kevin Correia, Edinson Volquez and Miguel Batista combined for 46 strikeouts and three wins while Joe Nathan picked up a pair of saves. Aramis Ramirez (3 HRs, 10 RBIs), Chipper Jones (.440-1-7), Delmon Young (.320-1-6-2) and Albert Pujols (7 RBIs in 6 ABs) led the way offensively.

This was the type of overall balance he had hoped to secure on Draft Day in March. Alas, it has not come to pass.

“My strategy on Draft Day was to draft a combination of balance and value,” Plati said. “Fortunately, I fared fairly well with my offense this season since I had to spend both my time and FAAB on starting pitching.

“I had a decent base with Aaron Harang and C.C. Sabathia but they couldn’t offset the damage done by the other 24 pitchers I’ve had on my roster created. I give my leaguemates credit for not leaving much in the way of quality pitching on the free-agent list. I’ve been chasing ERA and WHIP since the beginning of the season.”

Plati is single and lives in Peekskill, NY and works for Coca Cola Enterprises. For finishing first last week, Peter wins a Tom Seaver signed baseball courtesy of Upper Deck Authenticated.

“I’d like to thank Upper Deck for the great prize,” he said. “I’d also like to thank both Greg and Tom for running a first-class competition which I’ve enjoyed for three years now.”
