Arizona Fall League Symposium Nov. 1-4

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Fri Oct 12, 2007 7:58 am

I know there are a lot of baseball junkies in the NFBC, so I thought I'd let all of you know that if you want to get a head start on next year's scouting you're more than welcome to join me and others at Ron Shandler's Arizona Fall League Symposium, Nov. 1-4 in Phoenix. The three-day conference includes great discussions on the past season, the upcoming season, scouting reports, strategies and trips each day to AFL games. More than 125 die-hard fantasy baseball enthusiasts come to this conference each fall and it really is the perfect kickoff for the next season.

I'm speaking on Saturday along with others about rules changes and game changes that have been instituted to make the game better. I'll talk about our 15-team format, KDS, 3RR that we use in football and basketball, the DL rule, the September DL rule and more. Should be loads of fun.

I know we'll have at least a dozen NFBC veterans in attendance and maybe more if you want to join us for some fun. New recruits this year include Shawn Childs and Rick Thomas, while old veterans like Perry Van Hook, Gene McCaffrey, John Menna, Todd Zola, and a few others will also be there. Should be loads of fun.

We'll have some scouting report writeups on this thread when we get back as you get a great look at the top prospects at the AFL games, where seats right behind home plate are always available. I'm counting down the days to the AFL Symposium already as winter has found its way to Wisconsin already this week!! :D Let's play ball!!!

Anyway, if you have any questions on the Symposium or want to just talk about prospects who will be appearing in Arizona this fall, feel free to post here. It's the perfect next step from post-season discussion to spring training.

Hey Greg, when you're speaking maybe you can take a minute to ask NFBC participants to stand up? That way we can all find each other and maybe have a chance to trade war stories, sit at a game together or meet up in the bar?

See you there!

Brian -- it is asked we write the type of games we play on our nametag (I usually request a second name tag, but I digress). Point being let's be sure to put NFBC in the list.
