We seem to be in an every other year trend. Last year fewer HR's were hit, but the drop was most striking with the big hitters from 2006. Of the 34 that hit 30+ HR in 2006, only three matched or exceeded their '06 output in '07. Two (Holliday and Dunn) were +2 and even respectively. Alex "Gimme my $30m for Life" Rodriguez was the only one with appreciably gains (+19).

Of the remaining 31, the group averaged 12.5 less homeruns with an AMAZING 23 showing double digit loss.

All 34 who hit 30+ HR in 2006 did play (i.e. no retirements).

There were twelve who hit 30+ in '07 who did not in '06. Most (all except Miquel Cabrera and Griffey) had never done it before and were lead by Fielder, Braun, Pena, and Chris Young (OF). For seven of this group, though, the increase was good but not earth shattering (2006 total 184, 2007 total 215 or an average increase of about 4).

Looks like it is time for MLB to start winding those balls tighter again!

Steriods were down in '07 too! LOL Some things that make one go hmmmmmmmm?
