$2,500 NFBC Super_Draft_League

Post by Less than Dave » Fri Jan 18, 2008 11:06 am

I have never done an auction in all my years of playing fantasy baseball... any thoughts on it from someone who LOVES to draft (like me)? I imagine it would be A LOT different and involve even more of a pre-game strat... ie: what I want to spend a lot on and what I want to make value picks of... it would be interesting, but I dont wanna play for $1300+ yet...

dave- if you went into an auction here- no matter how good you are at picking players- you would have no chance. my friend did one last year- but he had a partner that was experienced. they split the $650. that is the way to go at first. live auctions are way more fun than a draft- but they are an animal in themselves. you need a plan for your team and you need to be good at the end game. i am just good enough to know i am not good enough for the big $ games here. hope that helps. mike

oh I know it's waaayyy different.. believe me, if I decided to do it ever, I would make sure I was prepared. But I am not considering it at all for NFBC. I doubt I would like it more than the draft though.. I am a draft nut. Perhaps in the future though...

My experience is unlike the one described above. I did the AL Auction the past 3 years and did much better than in main event. I had never done one before in my life. Year one was a little learning, like knowing to keep some $$$$ for free agents after the baseball trading deadline. Year 2 I came in 2nd place. Last year just missed the money due to a bit of bad injury luck down the line. The part I like best is you are in on every single player and there is no sitting around waiting for 10-20 players to be drafted. VERY MUCH FUN.

OK - So I'm not as good as I thought I was; but at least I am consistent.

Congrats to Emmett Ruland! His name was pulled out of a hat by our very own Tom Kessenich. Emmett wins the magazine team that I'm drafting on Thursday (1/24). Emmett, please send me a PM so we can chat before the draft. Thanks.

I'm just curious, are people putting good odds on Dan or Mark winning this league? What do you guys think.. I'm not asking those involved in the league so much because I'd HOPE you think you're going to win.. I know I do.

I guess none of the super drafters want the free mag league. I'll take the team back and figure out a way to give it to someone who really wants it.

Shoot, that won't work, its NFBC money.

How about we each get in a $ 250 satelite next year(it doesen't have to be the same one). If I win it I don't want to reap all the rewards, it was your draft and my team, a 50-50 split seems more right by me. Deal?

Deal? i was thinking about giving it away as a prize for someone, but geez, how do i pass this up? dan - you got yourself a deal! the team is yours now. i'll let greg/tom know to map it to your STAT page.

btw, if i win my league this year, i'll be in vegas next year, 100% guaranteed.
