Two sleeper picks.
Alexei Ramirez, CWS
Pending the completion of a physical, the White Sox signed Cuban defector Alexei Ramirez to a four year contract this winter. Ramirez, 26, primarily played SS in Cuba but will compete at 2b this spring with Juan Uribe and Danny Richar. In Cuba, Ramirez hit .332 with 87 home runs the last seven years and plays Gold Glove caliber defense. With Richar only hitting .205 vs. lefty’s last season and the Sox hoping to trade Juan Uribe, Alexei Ramirez presents a good option for your late round third MI with power potential that won’t hurt your avg.
Laynce Nix, MIL
Yes, that Laynce Nix. This past Texas Ranger never lived up to his prospect label and is now hoping to get one last shot with the Milwaukee Brewers. Nix, still just 27 years old, hit 24 home runs and had a .968 OPS with AAA Nashville last year. With newly signed center fielder Mike Cameron serving a 25 game suspension to start the season, Nix will have one month to prove he isn’t just a lifetime AAA player.
Russel , IL
Personal information.
My name is Russel and I live in Illinois. I have been in a local Rotisserie AL auction league since 1991. Last season I participated in my first NFBC draft, $1000 satellite, and this year I will be in the main event for the first time. Although I haven’t taken part, I have been an avid reader of the message board over the last year and have enjoyed many of the topics that have been presented. I look forward to increasing my participation this spring and meeting some of the people that I’ve read.
