Pujols - earliest and latest selection?

Post by hankstr » Mon Mar 17, 2008 3:58 am

What were the earliest and latest picks (main event) for Pujols? I think in NYC, the earliest he went was 1.9 and the latest was 2.5.

I toook him at 12 in Tampa 2. Id also be curious to get similar feedback on Johan....I grabbed him at 2.4 and was very shocked that he fell to me.

I know Robert Jurney snagged him at 2.7 in Chicago, teaming him with M. Cabrera from the first round.

Yikes, Miguel and Albert!!!? That could/should be a lethal 1-2 punch.

I think the highest I saw him go in Vegas was 1.10, and I think I saw him go 2.6 as the lowest. I could be wrong, but that's what I remember when walking around.

So 2.7 looks to be the latest for Pujols? I don't have NYC data for Johan. I did look at NYC boards for Aramis Ramirez - I got him at 3.14 and that appeared to be his latest drop. I started out with Ortiz 1.14, Pujols 2.2, and then Ramirez 3.14.

In NY4, Pujols went 1.15 and Johan went 1.8. No big surprises in round 1.

Go to the thread under Fantasy/MLB Talk Chicago 2, pick 9. I told him near the end of the draft that it looked great to me.

I also acquired M. Tejada at 7.14. I did not see him fall that far in other NYC drafts. He has some issues, understood, but still.....

I passed on Puljos in the 2nd round pick 5 , he then went next to team 10.I took Howard at 11 and didnt want another firstbaseman or even have to worry about Puljos all year.

Eddie, I hear ya'. I was not targetting Pujols but did focus on power/rbi/avg with the first 2 picks (I had pick 14). In my opinion, there were speed options to be had in later rounds of the draft. Team 15 took Texiera and Carlos Lee, so I went ahead took Pujols. After 4 rounds I had Ortiz, Pujols, Aram, and Figgins. I don't think it is a good idea to block the 1b/3b/ci/ut like that - leaving no room to manuevre - but I also wanted to take what I though was best value in the early rounds.

Figgins was a player i wanted in the 3rd round in the main , i had pick 11 and 12 in the super but Zalaski was in both my drafts and he took him in both early in the 3rd round pick 6.

After all that power Figgins is just what you needed.I did get Victorino in the 5th round pick 11, was happy their considering how early he went in many other leagues.

He averaged 600 AB's/150g for 3 years, then he gets hurt, comes back, and plays best ball of his life. Doubt he goes in round three next year. Doubt he had any hand issues with the post injury average.

He was perfect in Super... Holliday/Vlad/Figg

Nice fit in main with Holliday/Peavy/Figg...

Hate chasing a ton of sb's late... The Judy's always go higher than where I want them and then I'm way behind in SB's.

John, you know that Figgins is a Judy, right? A higher class Judy, but still, a Judy. :D

Figgy averaged .5 RBI/game last yr, and has hit 8hr twice, been at 57-62 rbi last 4 years.. good shot at 110 runs again too.

Fits good in super with Holliday, Vlad, A.Gonz, Haffner and Hamilton...

Higher class Judy it is...

Maybe we should call Figgins a "Sherrill."
