Who Was First Half Fantasy MVP?

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Wed Jul 14, 2004 2:22 am

I've changed the Question of the Week poll to ask the following: "Who was the first half fantasy Most Valuable Player?" Obviously, in everyone's eyes it could be different and it could be someone like Lew Ford who was acquired off the free agent wire or it could be a first-round pick like Alex Rodriguez. Feel free to vote for one of the seven players listed in the poll and we'll tally up the votes over the next week. But I'd be interested in seeing comments here as well. Thanks for all your help.

As for the results of our last Question of the Week (okay, it was on for more than a month), Adrian Beltre and Roger Clemens were clearly the players who surprised people with their fast starts to the MLB season. Nobody else came close. Thanks again to everyone who participated in that poll.

Where exactly is the Question of the Week Poll located?

I hope Randy Johnson is on the list, because he's clearly the 1st half fantasy MVP For those who were... (insert choice here)

a. lucky

b. dim

c. shrewd

... enough to ignore his degenerative knee condition, AARP status, and 2003 campaign.

Greg, how about a prize for being in the toughest league? Come on, man! ;)

In determining a fantasy MVP, to me, the amount of production you get out of a guy has to be compared with how high of a draft pick you had to use to get him. Based off of how low he was picked on average, my vote goes to Ben Sheets, who unfortunately is not on my team.

Moneymaker, the Question of the Week is located on the left side of our NFBC homepage. Just scroll down toward the bottom on that side of the page and you should see it there.

My first half MVP was Carlos Guillen without a doubt. He was my 22nd round pick and it was a toss-up between him and Khalil Greene of San Diego. Wish I could say I knew he'd be better. Just picked him because he was eligible at both 3B and SS, so he had some position flexibility....

Roger Clemens 10th round 126 k's 2.62 era 1.16 whip 11 wins

bust Arthur Rhodes 6th round

Padilla 8th round

with two semi productive players in those two spots would be sitting pretty. Currently 6th in league but out of contention overall 97th. (no closers)

I would be curious to know how teams are doing overall that punted saves.
