If anyone else is out there, post your thoughts on the big game.

I was going to sleep through but I thought this might be my only chance to see Harden pitch this year.

The A's line-up is weak, but I think they'd be better off using Cust and Mike Sweeney, with Cust playing OF. I don't think Cust's defense is that bad that his bat doesn't play in the line-up. Of course, last night he looked like the player all the projectors thought he would be so that won't work.

Now that the other team actually has a scouting report on Brandon Moss, we are probably done with the big homeruns and moving on to the big strikeouts.

With Emil Brown and Bobby Crosby up I expect the score will still be 0-0 at the end of the inning. Emil is the guy that Cust should be replacing (under the assumption that anyone else is better). Crosby's approach at the plate is nighmarish to try and watch.

What's the deal with Emil Brown? At various times last year I had Billy Butler, Ross Gload, Shane Costa, Mark Teahen etc. in KC, and Emil Brown was getting more time than any of them.

Harden throwing free and easy. Looks like Mark Prior (when he was good/healthy)

5 K's through first 2 1/3 innings. Wow. Lookin' great.

Maybe he can get up to 15 starts this year. ;)

Not bad through two:

Lester

Pitcher IP PC H ER BB K

Lester 2.0 39 2 1 2 2

Harden a bit better though:

Pitcher IP PC H ER BB K

Harden 2.0 38 0 0 1 4
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Drew is out for the 2nd game. Apparently Francona asked how Drew was doing today and he said, "no worse, no better".

So Francona sat him because he's worried about Drew playing on turf with a strained back and a 10 hour flight home.

I think La Russa was right when he said Drew was a puzzy. Ok, he never said that, but he did insinuate it back when Drew played for him.

Why can't Drew suck it up and play through pain like everybody else?

oops, update, Harden could be in trouble. Just issued 3rd walk, 2nd walk of inning. Ortiz up, 2 on, 2 down, Ortiz is 4-4 lifetime vs Harden with 2 homers.

Ortiz popped it up, Hannahan made GREAT catch in foul territory.

The ball looks great coming out of Lester's hand, but I think it doesn't always end up where he wants it and it hurts him.

Why isn't Big Pappi referred to as Big Ortee? Would make more sense and make me laugh.

Lester is a real nice play this year, that's for sure. Nice arm.

I enjoy the little Japanese sounds every time a foul ball is hit, for example. America should adopt them immediately.

Here we have 2 great arms with no control.

Side note: Clayton Kershaw is absolutely dominating in the spring. 6 K's in 3 innings vs Milwaukee first stringers.

When does this guy get brought up?

He's probably good enough right now to make the rotation.

Oops, don't answer that. No more hijacking topic. Especially after the Cueto topic errrr Rickie Weeks topic. :D

Hmmmm, Lester leaving that fastball up again?

3-run shot by Emil Brown.

I was thinking he had compromising pics of KC and Oakland management, but maybe they really do see something in him. Not sure if that homer makes up for the baserunning blunder to lose the game last night, tho.

So much for getting a quality start out of Lester for 11x11 league. QS is a category. Love it.

Thankfully I've got Harden going as well.

3-run shot by Emil Brown. You can't concede his talent and his bad skills. This is what the big fans of Bailey and Edwin Jackson just don't get. You can't ignore a guy's flaws just because he throws well.
