McCarver is at the bottom of my list. [/QUOTE]Maybe it is just being an A's fan and Joe takes every chance he can to slam the A's, but I really don't mind McCarver in comparison. I guess he is still pissed about 'that book that Billy Beane wrote.' Also, though, his analysis on things like the most efficient ways to score runs are somewhere beyond Dusty Baker SPED level.

Still, Joe at least can talk about how to steal a base or approach a certain type of pitcher with some knowledge. There is no analyst worse than A's TV guy Ray Fosse.

Here is a pearl of wisdom he just spat out yesterday, I forget what team he was talking about: "What that organization needs to focus on is winning." Thanks Ray. Here is a common one: "The key for the A's tonight is to hit well, pitch well, and play good defense." or "The A's need to hit well when there are runners in scoring position. And also when the bases are empty. Because the key to baseball is scoring more runs than your opponent." He learned A LOT in his 40+ years around the game.

The Bay Area TV announcers are pretty much pure crap. Every time I hear Glen Keiper laugh, which is like four times a minute--at nothing in particular--it makes me want to have a brain annyheurism. It could only be worse if Hawk and DJ moved here.

Okay, I need to go take a nap.

In Milwaukee you get Bob Uecker. He's been with the Brewers since they came to Milwaukee. Love his old stories from his playing days (not so good playing days). Jim Powell who he works with on the radio sounds just like him and he'll take over I'm sure when Uke hangs it up. I loved the playoff combo of Uecker and Costas from NBC. It is too bad Costas doesn't do baseball anymore.

I do like the main Radio guy on Sunday Night Baseball. I am bad with the names. He is another guy with a great baseball voice.

Oh, wait, here is another one. Ready? "When you're playing a team like the Yankees, they're a really great team, so the key is to outplay them."

What happened to Don Sutton? Ditto on Pete, he's good. But he ain't Don Sutton.

Would you agree that Skip Carey was one of the worst? As already mentioned, Sutton is doing color with the Nats. I like Sutton if for no other reason than when he first started, you listened because he was such a great player. But he worked at it and became a darn good announcer, unlike some (Joe Morgan...cough, cough) who never really learned the art.

A funny thing, I used to like Carey. Not that he ever provided a great deal by way of insight, but he kind of reminded me of that smartaxx friend you could go to the watering hole with and keep the conversation lively. Then I made the mistake of listening to the call-in show he used to do. What a jerk! Especially for someone who was only good at stating the obvious. Now he is older and sick. He just sounds pathetic.
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

I 100% agree about Morgan. I would love nothing more than to have the name Joe FU****g Morgan become as common as Bucky F****** Dent.

If you listen to an entire game, Morgan will contradict himself at least once if not more.

He also thinks that the only second baseman that belong in the HOF are Horsnby and himself. Joe is always talking about his love of the Hall and about seeing all the greats every year. He makes it a point to talk about the inductions and about being there to welcome the players into the Hall. Except for Ryne Sandberg. He didn't go to the induction and he refuses to talk about or give credit to Sandberg as a HOFer

The best over time have been Harwell,Scully,Jack Buck and liked Bob Costas. They all told the story better then the current group of broadcasters.

All I know is that John Sterling - who calls the Yankees is the WORST! Ever! Pompous, self-serving, blowhard with the lamest signature calls.

Poor Scully just went on about Scott Hairston being and infielder and making it sound like OF was new this year.

He hasn't played 2b in the majors since 2004. So embarrassing.
