Batting Average

Post by Edwards Kings » Mon Apr 14, 2008 3:20 am

Is it me, or is BA really low for this time of the year? There are only six teams with a BA of over .300 in the early going. It seems to me that in the past we had more teams with unsupportable BA's early on so that most come back to earth later in the season, but this year the averages are closer to what I would expect at the end of the season. Are we in for a BA challenged-year?
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

I think it has a lot to do with the weather. A majority of the teams are playing in horrible weather so far. I mean it was snowing the other day in Cleveland. When the warmer weather comes back I think we will see a rise in BA.
