Week 9 Drops
I don't care what your draft strategy was. I also don't care if u or walla walla or childs or my momma are the person pumping for mclouth to be in the faab pool. At this point in time, he doesn't belong there. Sorry.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Week 9 Drops
Mclouth should be out of the pool. He changes the outcome of this league. PERIOD. Am I going to blow another $1300 on an auction league run by the NFBC, where the NFBC isn't protecting the premise of their style of game.
The NFBC members build a team at the DRAFT and compliment that team through free agent pickups--pickups being a minor leaguer called up(Schezer-which everyone had a chance to draft) or a player on the fringe who busts out (J Werth, C Quinten) or a replacement for an injured player(Barmes, Bruntlett, Hairston) not for a frontline player dropped from another team. It's just NOT RIGHT!

There is so much room for collusion with a move like this, that it has to be blocked, especially in a private league.
A "buddy" could easily have set himself up to have the most faab at this point in the season to take advantage.
The needs of one owner should NEVER outweigh the needs of the league as a whole. The moment they do, a dramatic drop off in sign ups will occur.
There's always one guy who thinks he better than the system

So obviosly he predicts, along with many others I assume, that there will be a severe drop in production. I agree otherwise I would keep him in my starting lineup and use his batting avg. and few SB's he gets me. Many players are currently in starting lineups this week because what they have done in the past, not this year. So why should McLouth not do what he has done in the past, which is, not perform at this high level.
Irwin Fletcher A-Rod was the consensus #1, I expected him to hit around 290 this yr too. The difference between 320 in less than a third of the season and 290 isn't that big.

MDZ: Of course he changes the outcome of the league. With me having a better chance to win. He has a better chance of me helping on another roster than mine. The league leader has 100 FAAB remaining. He is not getting McLouth.(I know collusion, since my best friend is in 2nd).
BJOAK:I drafted alot of crappy players, that is the strategy. Didn't you see my roster? But as far as he is concerned I thought he would steal more bases.
I understand the collusion aspect as well. Last year late in the season I dropped Braun because I didn't need him. He was removed from the pool. McLouth is no Ryan Braun.
Also, the reason the minimum innings is only 600 as opposed to a higher number is so that participants can use different strategies. Many don't seem to like different strategies.

Does your best friend have enough FAAB to land McLouth?

Seems more like a "nip it in the bud" removal.
Say 2 or 3 teams decided to do this next year...it would open up easy collusion.
I enjoy seeing your "crazy" attempt at trying an unproven strategy...but Nate McLouth is too valuable to be thrown back into the pool.
Like was mentioned above. You allow this, and you can kiss the NFBC's power to remove players from the pool in the future goodbye.

I was in my yard picnicking with my family one day when I came across a zebra, a panda and a skunk. I knew one of those animals could really do some damage to my picnic so I shot all 3 just to play it safe.

Leave it to Q for much needed insight and levity.

If McLouth was injured tonight and out for the year what round would he be selected in next year?

Assuming he made a full recovery in the off season and was slated to start for his team.

Okay, I am going to nullify the move made by crazytown involving McLouth and restore him to his roster in place of the player he picked up. He will remain on his reserve roster for this week. The reason we are restoring McLouth is that crazytown cut him with a strategy in mind to get more FAAB out of his league and when he learned that strategy would not be allowed the cut made no sense. For the good of the league, McLouth will be returned to his roster and the owner can cut him later if he wants with the knowledge that not every player that is cut will automatically be available via free agency.
The rule that allows this move on our part is as follows with the Auction League:
8. Commissioner Decisions: All decisions made by the Commissioner of the NFBC are final. Tough decisions sometimes must be made about eligibility rules, lineups, etc., and NFBC participants must accept the unbiased ruling of the NFBC Commissioner.

maybe i misread something on the thread (i apologize if i did), but didn't crazy drop braun last year and you pulled braun from the free agent pool?
if that's what happened, crazy was fully aware that pulling a player from the faab pool is entirely within your powers.

We're back to where we were in this league last week. Let the games continue and good luck all. This is a private league and in my mind it's best to keep the competition that we've had through the first eight weeks continue for the last 18 weeks with no harm done.

With 100+ leagues to manage, we'll have to make some decisions this year that not everyone will agree with, even for those folks not involved in that particular competition. But we'll do what we feel is right for each individual league and for each team involved in every league. I guess this is why Tom and I get paid the big bucks.
