Lance Turbes Is Week 8 Winner
Congratulations to Lance Turbes, whose sportsbettingman team in Las Vegas League 3 led the way in the NFBC last week with 3,251.5 points.
A big week from Magglio Ordonez (.478-3-9) led the way offensively. Robinson Cano (.409-0-7), Kelly Johnson (.429-0-5) and Jacoby Ellsbury (3 SBs) also delivered strong offensive weeks. On the mound, Lance got wins from all eight of his active pitchers while Mariano Rivera fanned 13.
For finishing first last week, Lance will win a free prize from FanEdge.com. Congratulations again to Lance and good luck to everyone in the NFBC this week.

Lance, congrats on the big weekly win. For one week, you were THE BEST in the NFBC and now I see you're going after the LV 3 money too!!! Congrats. Not bad for a football guy!
Pick out a good jersey and get Turbes scripted on the back. You'll look sweet in that next March in Las Vegas during MARCH MADNESS!!

Perhaps this is what Dr. Samodabroggia was trying to tell you in your pre-season dream? Great job on holding off the pack those last few days. Congratulations.

Thanks Everyone...you all rule!!!
Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) I didn't get all of the exciting drama of watching each day, as I was lakeside with NO CONNECTION to the outside world...not even a daily newspaper!
I got back, and teased myself by starting with Friday's Yahoo boxscores...and going game by game looking how my players did (with a fist pump for each W or HR)...working my way through Sundays games, and hoping it was enough.
When I pulled up the LV3 league page and saw that nice ass (thanks LATHAM)...I knew I won the week! SWEEEEEEET!
My man Jupinka and fellow LV3'ers Brian Oakchunas and Kelly Uganski were right on my tail in the top 14!
I hope to keep it up...but when I can pull up the Overall Standings without scrolling, and see sportsbettingman on the same screen as CC's Desperados, Welcome to Stevieland, Roundtrippers, and Pimpin' Trigger Jr...I know things are running good!

Lance Turbes Is Week 8 Winner
Lance Turbes hopes this is the start of something big. He’s spent most of the season playing without his top two picks (Jimmy Rollins and Curtis Granderson) and he was minus staff ace Scott Kazmir for awhile as well.
But his team is getting healthier and this past week, no team in the NFBC was better.
Turbes’ sportsbettingman team in Las Vegas League 3 led the way in the NFBC last week with 3,251.5 points.
“I had a nice week,” Turbes said. “Two players who had me a bit worried - Robinson Cano and Jack Cust - turned their game up a notch. Mags had another great week, and I am almost healthy as a team.
“Having my staff ace Scott Kazmir back is having a morale boost effect on my team’s clubhouse chemistry. Even Dick Harden is getting out there every five days now, and Micah Owings pulled a 10 K performance out of his hat. It was a solid all around performance, with everybody chipping in. Just how I like it.”
Turbes went into his draft knowing the competition in Las Vegas 3 was going to be top notch. So he wasn’t expecting greatness leaving The Flamingo.
“I was just hoping to come out of the draft with a team I could tinker with, and build on .because I knew it would not be complete with all of those sharks eating up every breakout candidate,” he said. “Many of the drafters displayed what I feel is a key attitude to winning - not fearing to reach for a player they covet. The ADP list was out the window in the first round.
“Should I go on to challenge for the overall, I'd give a lot of the credit to Shawn Childs and Dan Kenyon. Shawn posted some great articles on Baseball Mafia that opened my eyes to how to attack a challenge like the NFBC. In my previous 15 years of fantasy baseball, I'd pretty much just draft the best available player without regard to if I was becoming too rich on Runs and Stolen Bases, and light on RBIs and HRs, etc. Uncle Dan was a great friend in his honesty regarding player evaluations and offered new ways to look at things I hadn't thought about. I thank them both.”
Lance is married with two sons and he lives in San Mateo, CA. He is the owner operator of "Lucky Lance Concrete Pumping." For finishing first last week, Lance receives a free prize from FansEdge.com.
“Life is good,” he said.
