Don Mathis Midseason League Openings

Post by Tom Kessenich » Wed Jul 09, 2008 5:52 am

Hey everyone, Greg and I have looked over the midseason signups and we believe our best chance to fill up one more league for next week is the Don Mathis League. This midseason league uses first-half stats so it's different than our other midseason leagues. However, if you want to get into a midseason league this may be your best chance to do so.

If you're interested in signing up or if you are in another league that doesn't look like it's going to fill up, please register online. Greg and I will both be on vacation starting tomorrow so if you email us after today we can't guarantee you a spot. If you have any questions let me know.

Right now, we have three openings remaining. So who wants to take those spots?

$250 Don Mathis League (use first half stats of players), Pay Top 3, 7 p.m. EST

1. Don Mathis, Lakeland, Florida

2. Aaron Smith

3. Michael Lins

4. Mike Konemann

5. Richard Kulaski

6. John Crane, College Place, Washington

7. Will Tyrer

8. Andrew Diem

9. Emory Upchurch

10. Alex Georgiou, Goodletsville, Tenn.

11. George Beason

12. Anson Chan, Fort Lee, New Jersey

13. John Pausma

14. Michael Duddy

15. Wayne Barber

Will do Dave.

We'll see what the next couple of days brings but at this point it's looking unlikely that we'll fill up a fourth league.

Maybe those of us in the Mathis league can switch out and help fill another $250 league???

I'd be willing to switch if that works.

Will Tyrer said he will move to any $250 league that fills on Tuesday if that helps. Can we still fill the Don Mathis League? Let's keep it going and see where we end up by the weekend. Thanks all for trying to make this happen.

Andrew Diem has joined the Don Mathis tonight as well, bringing us back to 8 owners for Tuesday night, July 15th. Okay, we're getting closer if anyone else wants to jump in. This league uses first half stats to determine the standings. Here's how it works:

Whatever starting lineup you set for next Thursday after the draft, those 23 players will accumulate your first half stats. An updated standings will appear on Friday morning with all of the first half stats. Then you continue to accumulate second half stats on top of those first half stats. We pay top 3 finishers. Sound good?

Now, does anyone want a part of this unique league during the All-Star Game? Just let me know and I'll get you signed up.

Okay, we're officially at nine owners for this league now with Emory Upchurch joining us. Again, we use first half stats for this league only. Welcome aboard Emory and best of luck all if we can get six more owners.

Thanks to Alex Georgiou, Anson Chan and George Beason for signing up for the $250 Don Mathis league on Tuesday. We now have 12 of the 15 slots filled. If anyone else is interested, let myself, Greg or Tom know ASAP.

I assume that we get credit for first half stats accumulated through this upcoming Sunday...correct?

I might be in...just need to see if I can make the draft Tuesday night.

Good luck to all in this league. I am personally boycotting until the 1000+ ip rule goes into effect . Actually, I just am too tied up with other stuff to play, but I do think that this is a very interesting league to try the FAAB bidding for draft position for. GL to all, I am sure you will fill shortly.

John Pausma will take a spot in the Don Mathis League, leaving us with two open spots. Come on, let's fill this one up and have some fun. Here's the process again:

Draft on Tuesday night, 30 rounds.

We use first half stats, so the 23 players you put in your starting lineup on Thursday will accumulate their first half stats. That will be reflected in the first update on Friday morning. Then from that point on you accumulate second half stats from every starter in your lineup through the end of the season.

Good luck all. We pay top 3. First is $2,000.

Let's fill this up and I'll get KDS by Monday from everyone.

Draftaholics Anonymous Meeting

Saturday, July 12, 2008

Hi, my name is Atlas and I'm a draftaholic

(Group): Hi Atlas

I had gone 5 months without feeling the need to draft. I was doing well. I was concentrating at work everyday. I was paying attention to the kids. But then this league appeared. At first, I was able to resist. There weren't many people signed up, so I reasoned that it wasn't going to go off. But I kept checking back. First there were 3 signed up. Then 5. I started to get the itch. I called my sponsor and he told me that I wouldn't have time enought to prep properly. He also reminded me that football was only a few months away. I felt stronger.

Then there were 9 signed up, but a few dropped off. I breathed a sigh of relief. I told my draft partner that I was going to pass on this one, even though my two satellites were struggling and the last half of the sason looked bleak.

But then it happend! 4 more sign-ups. Only 2 spots left. The devil with the mustache jumped on my shoulder and whispered in my ear.."only two spots left..only two spots left...you know you want one..go ahead...what's one more draft..

go ahead.. no one will know.."

Aaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwright..alright..alright...I'm in..I'm in..

Okay, this league appears to be full. You can PM me your KDS preferences before noon CST on Monday or just e-mail them to me at [email protected]. We'll hit your cc's on Monday and then announce the draft spots on Monday afternoon. MDC.com will send out the invitation on Monday night and everyone should be set.

Here's the lineup:

$250 Don Mathis League (use first half stats of players), Pay Top 3, 7 p.m. EST

1. Don Mathis, Lakeland, Florida

2. Aaron Smith

3. Michael Lins

4. Mike Konemann

5. Richard Kulaski

6. John Crane, College Place, Washington

7. Will Tyrer

8. Andrew Diem

9. Emory Upchurch

10. Alex Georgiou, Goodletsville, Tenn.

11. George Beason

12. Anson Chan, Fort Lee, New Jersey

13. John Pausma

14. Michael Duddy

15. Wayne Barber

Again, we are using first half stats for this league only. KDS will be very important knowing that and so will drafting top first half players. E-mail me if you have any other questions, but we'll have updated standings by Friday morning. This should be a blast and thanks everyone for making this happen.

I think they have gotten the wrong name for me for the sign up list. My name should be listed as John P Burke, Rutherford NJ
