it's tough to cut guys you really trusted on draft day.

Join the crowd Mark! At least you are dropping guys who aren't worth much right now. So far in the main, I've dropped

Werth

Dukes

Kobayashi

Lowrie

Lind

Millar

Galarraga

Tracy

Butler

Big Unit

Snell

McGowan

Gagne

I drafted 10 of the above and the others were via free agency. All the players could've helped my team at some point during the season. I would obviously love to have a few of them back BUT rather enjoyed "stealing" some FA $$$$$ from a few other teams.

If only I could learn some patience, I might be closer to you in the standings.

BTW, McGowan REAAALLY hurt considering I have him on almost every team, but it just might be addition by subtraction for all of the McGowan owners

Wanted to add.....don't you love seeing players who go for $100+++ in some leagues go for $2 in others......and then in other leagues they remain on the wire???

I know it evens out by the end of the season, but it makes me wish I was an owner in some of these leagues where players go for cheap.

next weekend d.young will be dropped if he's out of the lineup due to his back. scherzer is supposed to throw next weekend. if he doesn't it could be time to go. liriano and kershaw should both be up soon.

i imagine out of those 5 guys at least two will provide their new owners some good value. i say new owners, but it's not totally out of the realm of possibility that i'm looking to acquire one of my drops back next week ;)

Mark,

So you dropped Helton, Butler, McGowan, Napoli, and Perkins

You Added--Kershaw, Howry, W Harris, C Ruiz, and B Crosby

Analysis--Napoli is only playing 2x per week and has been brutal so ruiz can't be any worse

-- Kershaw--lots of upside IF he finds the plate. You can take the whip and era hit so makes sense for a risk/reward opportunity

-- W Harris--I had him second to Tatis, so if anyone bid on Tatis I would have taken Harris at $6. good player for 2-4 weeks on a lousy team with few prospects. Good choice

-- Howry--are you looking for lightning in a bottle? he'll be dropped next week.

-- B Crosby-- he is no Furcal--except when he gets put on the DL

How are you addressing Saves and Steals? i would like to see you win the 100K and I'm not sure you have addressed saves and steals yet. Harris could help--but Howry?

Good Luck Mr Gekko

Good Luck Mr Gekko good write-up Mike!

napoli has been on the DL, so he hasn't even been getting 2 games a week. ;)

word on the street is that park is going to the bullpen and kershaw will be recalled. should get me some wins/K's.

maybe w.harris can get me a couple steals in the next few weeks?

k.wood didn't pitch in a game the cubs really needed him to. is he only suffering from a blister? if he is, can blisters be a reoccuring problem? marmol is nowhere close to being 2nd in line to saves. i figured howry has a decent chance to get a save or two.

crosby is just filler. but SS is a scarce position, so i needed a decent backup.

so, i added some steal potential and some save potential. i think chris young will get a lot more SB's the 2nd half (just like last year).

Mark,

Wood could have an issue with blisters and as a former Borowski owner, I know we need to troll for potential closers--hence Corpas and Dotel pickups 2 weeks ago. Oakland will probably trade Street and that could open a spot for someone there. Also, Johnson, whom you have, in Balt will probably be annoited as soon as Balt trades Sherrill in 2 weeks.

Steals are so tough--I thought Hairston would really help me out--then he fracturs a thumb while stealing 2 bases in his 1st AB of a week and on Sunday he doesn't stretch his hammy and strains it while beating out a bunt single.

The month of Sept really holds the key for you as those callups with speed( and they will run every chance--like Mclouth getting 20 SB's in Sept). It'll be fun for the last 65 games--though watching Varitek look clueless on a nightly basis is really painful.

Good Luck and yes I do enjoy pushing you in the hitting (Hr's and Runs) categories and Wins. Does it kill you seeing Lohse get W after W just like Saunders kills me?

Mike - your obviously a smart owner. It's good doing battle with you.

Btw, if the closer situation doesn't work out to my satisfaction by the tradin deadline, I may look to dump all the RP from my roster and bolster the rest of my team. It's not like I can lose many points by dumping saves.

I was thinking you might do that as well-- you would only lose 10-20pts in saves(overall) and you could gain that in W's and K's--just don't add too many J Moyers, B Moehlers, or K Kendricks--they will make you old VERY fast and they are brutal to watch. I think even I could hit Livan Hernandez--why don't MLB hitters adjust to soft tossers and move up in the box and hit these pitches before they break. D Lowe and B Webb are classic--move up to the front of the box and the space differential between the fastball( really not too fast--it makes an 88 mph fast ball into a 93 mph fastball still hittable) and the changeup only an inch instead of a foot--then whack the crap out of it. What do these hitting coaches get paid for--Rod carew would have had a .400 avg against Lowe and Webb.
