Is this legal?

I am planning on pitching John Parrish this week. He starts Friday against Seattle. I think there is a slight chance that the Jays call up David Purcey instead. In that case, I would rather use another pitcher. I also own Erik Bedard.

Am I allowed to put Bedard in my starting lineup now and since he is on the DL, switch him out Friday for Parrish. If Parrish isn't starting, I'll pick someone else.

It seems like I am using the Friday DL rule for something that it wasn't intended for, but is it a legal move? I'm sure I'm not the first guy to think of this option.
