GG -- let's just say I didn't treat this as a strict NFBC mock draft, because it wasn't. In a league that allows trading, I think the staff provides enough of a foundation that I could deal for starting pitching as the year progresses, as I probably also over-drafted SB. This will be explained in my strategy paragraph for the magazine,.

I do like Peavy as a #1 (duh) and Nolasco as a 2/3 type. I'm short another 2/3 type for a typically competitive NFBC staff. In an NFBC mock, I don't think I would have taken CoCo at 10, that's where I would have taken another starter, or maybe in round 8 so Nolasco would have been #3.

That said, I do like Josh Johnson as someone who COULD end up being a #3. The rest of the starters are just matchup-filler.

To expound a bit -- as this is a pretty decent example of "knowing your league", albeit a non-NFBC league.

Historically, Mike Lombardo and Sam Walker/Nando DiFino go heavy on pitching and look to deal later for hitting. Since they won NL Tout and AL Tout with this strategy this past season, I was reasonably sure they would use the same ploy. I was right. We're not going to play it out, but I treated as if we would.

Though...

We do play it as a draft and hold and I am the defending CS Mock champ
