NFBC - 30 round - 15 team Draft........

Post by Crazy Like a Fox » Fri Dec 26, 2008 11:03 am

Monday, December 29th at 6:15 p.m. PST if anyones interested.

This is just a "get your feet wet" draft before the real drafts in March.

Check it out on mockdraftcentral.com

NFBC - 30 round - 15 team Draft........

Post by Crazy Like a Fox » Mon Dec 29, 2008 4:48 pm

Here's my draft. What do you guys think?

I went too old and risky with my starters, but other than that I think it was ok. My outfield is really young which could mean a very up and down season. Oh, Randy was a huge mistake in round 11. Way too early for him.

Just a mock draft but feel free to comment. I did take this seriously but I admittedly have not done hardly any research as of yet. Feel free to blast away. I'll take it as constructive criticism.

i think you're going to struggle with that pitching staff, even though you have maybe the two best starters in MLB. Unit, Carp, Penny, smoltz, and ryan are BIG ifs, plus saito probably lost his job to broxton. i like the wandy pick, wolf and delarosa, who knows. this may be a typical draft when you load up on two stud SP's early, then you have to try to catch up with offense and then you're left with 20th round pitchers. very risky,,,imo.

You're probably right. After I got done drafting I looked at my staff and realized it was not close to as solid as I would have liked. Too much risk there. I know Saito is not closing in LA but my hunch is that he will close for somebody in 2009. If he closes he's a bonafide 10th rounder IMO.

Dont like this team at all.You will be last in bavg.

Outfield after Kemp and Ludwick a lot of gamble picks.Randy Johnson ,John Smoltz , Carpenter a lot of old guys or coming off major injury.I like some of the later picks Hill,Hafner,Rodriquez but overall the value for where you made picks were bad.Hey just a practice draft right, punt and start over.

The team looks like a who's who of the DL. Risk is good at a couple spots but you've reached in several. Santana that late in 2 is nice. Would have to see the other teams to make a call on where you missed value or grabbed value.

Sometimes you're waiting for your pick, trying to get the best value at each spot and you miss the overall picture. I think that was the case with my draft.

Thanks for all your input. It's gonna help me next time out.

Here's "Finkel's" Draft. Before the draft he was bashing my previous one. He said it was ok to post his vs mine at the end of the draft. Which do think did a better job drafting.

I can't wait for March.

No offense, but comparing mock teams in December is like comparing tans in Wisconsin during December.

Also, he's got a nice top 4 starters, only 3 if Joba ends up in the bullpen at some point, and the rest of the staff is horrible.

R30 P9 OF Daniel Murphy, NYM I drafted the bottom team. Other than McCutchen, I got a starter in each round- THAT will never happen in a real draft! Also the entire draft had flaws, as MDC had its sorts off- many quality players where at the bottom and you had to look there to draft them- if you did not pre-arrange your player management.
