Auction, 100%. Sure it may take longer, but it's a lot more work putting a team together when every owner has access to every player. It makes you more like a real world GM since you have to watch your budget and plan accordingly.

Auction vs Draft

I generally prefer auctions because you have an option on every player. However, it only works for me if it is a keeper league. Otherwise, why bother.

Snake-drafts have more excitement to me, however. By that, I mean internal-excitement. Sitting there, with three or four picks to go, and one of "your" players has fallen a round or two, and you are sitting there sweating whether or not your competitors picking just ahead of you will grab him. Then it is the guy next to you...one to go...you try for your poker face...take a sip of you drink...look casually at your draft notes...and nine times out of ten in the NFBC he gets picked JUST BEFORE YOUR TURN. You turn to the guy (or girl) who picked him and say "Nice pick" when your mind is screaming "AXXHOLE!".

You take a deep breath, try not to appear hacked. You settle for the next best player, make your selection, and the person next to you turns glaring and says "Nice pick". All is right with the world again. ;)

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.
