2006 22/23? of 25 Arod first pick

2007 27 of 28 Pujols first pick

2008 30 of 30 plus every single satellite save one Arod first pick

2009 I know it’s very early , but Hanley first pick 3 of 3. Will anyone draw outside the lines?

Russel,

-Navel Lint Agreed, he's going first in a lot of leagues right now. I did, however, post the Shawn Childs League results a few weeks back and in that one Alex Rodriguez went first, with Hanley going second. So at least one owner so far has gone in a different direction with that first pick.

These drafts are great Greg! A few things jump out at me. Furcal and Vmart are getting a lot of love this year! Also the end of the 1st to mid 3rd round is way up in the air yet!

I feel VMart will have a good year but he has to have a .280 20 85 line or better to be taken in the top 90. We know he can hit .300 20 95 but after last year I have him at .285 14 80, still very solid for a catcher but who knows what VMart your going to get.

Furcal I just don't get, I'm very down on him this year. Am I off by thinking a year of 125 Games Avg,R,HR,RBI,SB of .278, 83, 8, 49, 26?

I know you won't be posting our first 6 rounds for at least 3 more days. We can't get out of the 3rd round now in our 3rd day.

Carlos Quentin going 16th in one draft and 50th in another???

I don't think I have EVER seen such a big difference for one player taken in the first 5 rounds of any football (or baseball) draft.

I still can't believe Holliday's still going in the first round.

His 162 game average away from Coors for his career is .280-20-85-95 runs - 18 steals.

Now he's in a new league facing pitchers he's never faced before, hitting in one of the league's best pitcher parks. Throw in the fact Billy Beane's A's do not have a run-happy philosophy as everyone knows. Away from Coors he's not a power guy, his average is nothing special and he probably won't steal over 20 with the A's.

I don't think I'd draft him ahead of Nate McClouth who's going in the 3rd/4th rounds.

Is there anyone else out there who is baffled by people who draft Holliday in the 1st round?

[/QUOTE]I see what you're saying, but McClouth is on his way up and at 27, he could be primed for a huge year. If Holliday is better in 2009, it's because he gets 20 points in average on McClouth, but will Holliday have more homers? More rbi's? More runs? More stolen bases? The answer will be no to all 4.

I think there are different level of commitments on these slow draft. I know next year some leagues will turn into invitation only.

With comments like this, your name might bring the "avoid tag on it". It's one thing to have different levels of commitments but to be insulted along the way doesn't sound like a reason to join a league with you name attached to it.

Correct, diff level of commitments indeed. I could care less if "my name" was negatively looked at my some on these boards. There is more behind his post and my reply than you know of.

But hey, if me taking about 30-60 mins to make a pick will be looked negatively by others, cool with me. I dont look to join the private leagues by invitation only anyway. I will just join the public ones that are open to all contestants and be just fine with that.

I think people do need to realize that these are called slow drafts for a reason and if you want more immediacy then maybe the higher priced ones are better for you. The first $325 Slow Draft was finished in less than 9 days because the owners there had two guys pushing it along and the group really enjoyed getting together in the chat room and conversing. This second $325 league is almost through Round 27 in less than a week and will be done in a couple of days.

The $250 that was started almost the same time is in Round 20 and the pair of $125's aren't through Round 12. I understand it can be frustrating to wait hours for a pick but even at two rounds per day these drafts will be done by the end of January. And some of these drafts pick up in the later rounds as folks get a feel for the process and enjoy jumping into the chat rooms to talk baseball.

So far so good and MDC.com has a real nice process for these. Good luck all and enjoy the journey as it's a long ride that's filled with a lot of good information.
