Must be an HQ subscriber. He's projected at some quite lofty numbers.
I am an HQ subscriber and am one of the biggest admirer of thier methods. I actually saw these projections and had to ask one wiser than I if such lofty expectations for Jacobs was the fantasy equivalent of Jim Jones Jungle Joy Juice. Maybe yes and maybe no (I decided on a diet coke), but in any regard, the fifth is a stretch. Even Ron has him late eighth or early ninth territory, which is what cause me to raise my eyebrow in the first place.
Not slamming whomever made the pick, but it sort of stuck out like me at a you-know-what in a punch bowl!

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

At least I am assuming that Longoria and Braun were not taken that early in any league.

Still ticks me off.

Fifth Round
71. Matt Wieters
Orioles president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail said Thursday that Matt Wieters will likely begin the season at Triple-A.
I think Evan Longoria started the season at Triple-A last year, too.

At least I am assuming that Longoria and Braun were not taken that early in any league.
Maybe they should have been.
Why take someone in the 5th when you can get them in the 12th??
Then again in Wieters case, your point is taken.

NFBC Slow Draft Results
Yikes, I haven't posted any draft results in two weeks. I apologize. We've had several Slow Drafts since then, so I'll post some more results after lunch. My apologies. Look for them soon.

Justin Morneau a FIRST rounder???
Not saying he won't produce those type numbers, but have yet to see him crack the top portion of round 2, let alone round one.

I was not in this draft and have no idea who drafted him in the first or why but I would speculate that this was influenced by MDC's default rankings which have Morneau very high. The past couple years I have noticed a definite influence that MDC's default rankings seem to have over drafting trends in the NFBC satellites leading up to and affecting the main. That's my opinion.

I'm supposing he figured he had to have a stud 1B/3B to start off his team - probably wasn't expecting to Teix AND Longoria to be gone. The next safe bet was between Morn/Fielder/Berkman. He may have figured once the draft gets back to him the Youks and Gonzo's would be gone - and they were.
