MLBC Salaries

Not a part of the league, but think the concept is really interesting...unfortunately, it's like a high stakes poker game and I can't afford to sit at the table. Just a suggestion regarding salaries, use it as you please. For current unsigned FA(Abreu, Dunn, Sheets, etc.) how about making their salary the AVG ML salary? Obviously there will be border line FAs who end up with a higher price tag and probably some with a lower price tag, but I think it's clear Abreu isn't making 13 million dollars again this season.

Just a thought from an observer with no agenda...

I think the average team salary you projected has gone up at least $50 each. Net change of guys I think go in the first 30 rds is probably just $15-20 per team higher so far, but probably reachs $50 and then some by draft day.
I think the avg cost per team is going up in a hurry as anyone arb eligible or super-2 classified is getting a big raise. Likely we are looking at several $1500+ teams now.

If we did anything I would freeze salary changes a little early, perhaps this friday or saturday. It would save me the ridiculous number of updates everyday and give everyone some prep time without having to do player updates.

Saves you update time, gives everyone something concrete to work with/plan on, and saves the Royals and Bad News Bears a few bargains....Just my two cents of course.

I agree, the updates are a pain.

I am all for closing the salaries on Friday. This will give us 7 days to update or rankings. I am running out lead in my # 2 pencil.

I will shoot out an email. If I get 6 or more objections (more than 1/3rd) to freezing salaries, we'll keep it as is - if not, I'll freeze them as of Saturday at 6pm pacific time.

When the Fudd's right he's right. KoQ is the only one who can throw chit at Fudd and make it stick.

I give the Devil his due. I will see Fudd 2x this season - first time. Prediction: Duke 2, Fudd 0. He's like a rookie pitcher who comes up to the bigs and dominates for a short time 'til the pros figure him out. Time of reckoning Fudd. ;)
Fudd's got that Kimo sandbox guarded but good. He's made a cottage industry out of tossing the NFBCers out on their butts. Thing is someone slipped by him last year and left him a little treat. His sandbox is not so sacred anymore. It has been christened.

Fudd better be on this season or else the late Roy Scheider's will have his ear - "You're gonna need a bigger shovel "

Chuck-

When you get to Vegas, can you call me so I can carry your luggage to your room? It's the least I can do after last year's performance in the Kimo league.

With 24 hours 'til salaries lock, payroll inflation is running 9.2%.

Biggest $ gainers:

+75 Mark Teixera 200

+60 Carlos Lee 185

+59 Vernon Wells 100

+58 Kerry Wood 100

+55 Jon Papelbon 63

+52 Brad Lidge 115

+51 Hanley Ramirez 55

+50 Derek Lowe 150

+50 Bobby Jenks, 56

+48 Michael Young 110 (edited)

Biggest $ losers:

-181 Jason Giambi 53

-140 Mike Hampton 20

-95 Carl Pavano 15

-92 Rafael Furcal 65

-85 John Smoltz 55

-73 Pat Burrell 70

-71 Randy Johnson 80

-55 Mark Kotsay 15

Has Michael Young priced himself out of the draft, has Giambi priced his way in?

Kevin - PTI....but where do you get Michael Young for $16 million? It is actually around 11-12 but I will check and see exactly (unless you are just using total value divided by years which is NOT how that contract is structured)
