21 Owners Have 2 Or More NFBC League Titles

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Mon Jan 26, 2009 10:33 am

During our first five seasons of the NFBC, only 21 owners have won as many as two league titles. No one has ever won three league titles in a row, but four owners have a shot to accomplish that this year.

As noted in the past, only two owners have won three league titles during our first five years. They include:

Stephen Jupinka: 2004, 2006, 2008

Shawn Childs: 2004, 2005, 2006

A total of 11 owners have won back-to-back NFBC main event league titles since 2004, but nobody has ever won three in a row. Those owners who have a shot at that this year include:

Chris Poulson: 14th overall in 2007, 13th overall in 2008

Bob Mazur

Mark Srebro

Jeff Dobies

Jared Eagle

Can anyone win three in a row?? Can anyone win four league titles in six years?? Can anyone win a second overall title??

Here's the list of 21 owners with two or more main event league titles, in the order of their Lifetime Standings. I believe I have the years correct, but if not feel free to correct me and I'll update the list. Congrats to all and good luck to all in 2009:

Chris Poulson: 2007, 2008

Stephen Jupinka: 2004, 2005, 2008

Shawn Childs: 2004, 2005, 2007

Jared Eagle: 2007, 2008

Bob Mazur: 2007, 2008

David DiDonato: 2006, 2007

Joseph Anello: 2005, 2006

Mark Srebro: 2007, 2008

Terry Haney: 2004, 2007

Matt Mickle: 2006, 2007

Jeff Thomas: 2004, 2008

John Hogan: 2004, 2006

Dan Kenyon: 2005, 2007

Jeff Dobies: 2007, 2008

Joe Thelen: 2004, 2005

Philip McDonald: 2004, 2008

Clark Olson: 2004, 2005

Doug Jaffe: 2005, 2007

Tom Lord: 2006, 2007

Robert Jurney: 2006, 2008

Now how they could someone leave out Terry Haney, that should cost Greg about 10+ drink tickets when you get to vegas.

I checked the names -- Chris Poulson is listed twice. Substitute Terry Haney for one of the Poulson's, and the list is accurate.

Greg will blame:

(a) a STATS programmer

(b) his poor Excel skills

(c) Tom

(d) all of the above

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQmHWbKLIIc Sorry Terry that I missed you. I've added you to the list now as I know you won in 2004 and 2007. Now we have 22 two-time winners. I did it quickly by looking at the Lifetime Standings list and I may even have missed another or two. Hopefully I have all of them now.

(d) all of the above Nah, it was all me. I had Terry on the list I wrote down off the Lifetime Standings page and somehow just didn't type him on this list here. I don't know how I missed him. I knew I counted 21 when I started this thread and just typed in 20, that's all. My bad and I'll buy Terry a cold drink in Las Vegas to make up for it.

Terry, it's -13 here this morning and I'm sure not much warmer in Iowa. Maybe we'll have something warm to drink in Las Vegas instead of cold. This winter is for the birds.

I thought I'd bump this thread up to the top of our boards because as we fill up the main event over the next few weeks you'll want to remember these 21 names on this list. It's a rare group that has accomplished two or more NFBC league titles in five seasons and I don't want to see this thread disappear. Congrats all and let's see how many can win a third league title in 2009...or even a fourth league title. Good luck all.

Quick question Greg, Will there be any drug testers at the "Main"? I'm not sure about all of those listed above but in my humble opinion, Bob Mazur, has certainly "buffed" up in the last couple of years. If can spot this discrepency, others are sure to follow. After all, what are the odds of someone from Colorado winning once? And two in a row must be astronomical. Will someone from S Dakota be next?? Just a thought that you might check into before things get out of hand.

Bob: As long as nobody injected you in the gluteus during that time, you are still welcome to pick up the check at IP the morning of the Main. ;)

You are going to have to leave your cousin at home when you're in Vegas Bob, but I'll treat you to any non-steroidal drink of your choice.

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

And Mike, regarding bringing my whizzanator, dont worry at my age I never leave home without it. By the way, how was Costa Rica? Can I assume this mischief you're trying to create on the boards is originating stateside?
