Possible NFBC Main Event-Online Championship Incentive

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Tue Jan 27, 2009 8:59 am

We know the odds of winning both the NFBC main event and the NFBC Online Championship are staggering, but what the heck, anything is possible, right? At first I thought it would be foolish to buy insurance for such an occurrence, but now I'm leaning towards going that route to give a little more incentive to owners to compete in both formats. I want to combine the 15-team format and the 12-team format and see who really is the best of both worlds. :D

We have already announced that we will provide a $5,000 prize to the team with the most combined rank points in both events, so there is a nice

incentive to join both events. But I want more. So I'm looking into buying insurance for anyone who can win both overall titles. I found an affordable offer that I'll eat as an expense and provide to anyone who can win both events. We could do like a golf event does and provide a luxury vehicle as the prize. This would be like a hole-in-one contest where the winner walks away with a Lexus or something like that if he/she wins both contests.

What do you think of the idea? Insuring a $1 million bonus isn't feasible in this contest and even if we go down to $250,000 or something in that range, they would still be annuity payments. This is an immediate drive home prize for anyone who beats the odds and wins both formats.

Just a thought for now, but give me some feedback and we'll try to make it happen. If it's not good enough, well, we'll still probably do it!! ;) I just think it will be fun to see who is leading both contests all year long and follow those teams in line to pull off the incredible double win. And if that would actually happen, it would be a shame if we didn't have a bigger prize waiting for them!! :D Let me know what you think and I'll swing this into action.

- forgot about this. I may have to jump in more than once! This is a tad more achievable. But any bonus is just that - a bonus !

A smart car painted like a baseball with the NFBC logo on both sides....maybe not

The drawback to the luxury car is the luxury taxes that go with it. An extra 100 grand would turn anybody's crank.

12-teamer will feel like shooting fish in a barrel after you've done the 15-teamer. Come and join the fun.

Greg - whatever you can do is greatly appreciated by all of us. I like the car idea especially if it comes with a cashout option......going to Green Bay just to pick up a car....well I guess you could load the BIG check in the back seat, so what the heck ;)

It's an affordable expense to bring more glamour to the combo and who knows maybe we'll be able to find a sponsor for this. I'm still investigating all of this, but if the feedback is strong I'll pick up the tab. I think our Online Championship will pick up a lot of steam in March and sell out, but giving our 300+ main event folks a reason to buy one, two or even three teams for the added fun of winning both events seems like a worthy charge.

We'll see, but I like it. ;)

Greg,

How about saving yourself the insurance and offer a free lifetime pass to both the Main and online Championship.

Greg, any thoughts on increasing the combined standings prize in lieu of the car bonus? Currently, I am not planning on playing the online league because of time issues on Sundays, but if there were more incentive thrown at playing both contests, I would likely change my mind and probably buy multiple teams. It could be like a wild card prize. Odds are that someone other than the 100k and 20k winners would take this down, adding a third big prize to compete for and likely increasing the number of entrants to both contests.

Plus, it's an incentive for the person to keep on going to Vegas and playing in the other events.

I haven't found the answer glancing through the message board, but if a owner has multiple online teams how/when is it determined which team will be the one that is paired up with his/her main event team?

I believe the correct answer is: whichever one is ranked the highest (most combined points).

[/QUOTE]Correct. They will all show up on the combined standings and if he has three teams he will be listed three times, each one adding his online total to his main event total. I don't know of anyone who has ever had two main event NFBC teams, but it's possible for someone to have multiple online championship teams with the format we've set up. So we'll add each main event team up with each online championship team score and list each separately.

So we'll add each main event team up with each online championship team score and list each separately. While I understand the need to have as much incentive as possible to sell out each event, linking each team separately is a bit unfair to those only able to afford a single on-line team.

OWNING ONE ON-LINE TEAM

$1300 + $350 = paying $1650 for a chance at the bonus

OWNING TWO

$1300 + $700 = paying $1000 per team for a chance at the bonus

OWNING THREE

$1300 + $1050 = paying $783.33 per team for a chance at the bonus.

Personally, I think the FAIREST method would be for owners of multiple teams to pre-determine which on-line team they want linked, but I realize this is not realistic given the economy and the need to get as many sign-ups as possible.
