Alex Rodriguez Tested Positive for Steroids

Post by poopy tooth » Sat Feb 07, 2009 4:20 am

SI.com is reporting he tested positive in 2003 drug testing.

How do you think this will affect him this season? He seems to struggle when the media and fans get on him.

I still think he's good for .300/110/35/115/15

I took him 2nd in a slow draft - if I had it to do over again, I may now lean towards Wright.

Going to be a LONG season for ARod, as Yankees fans flip flop again between loving and hating A-Fraud! :D

The one thing that sucks though is the tests were supposed to be kept private/destroyed...

I don't think anything will change. "If" the Yankees make the playoffs he'll continue to hit .120

Because Schilling and all the Red Sox frauds were doing as many roids as the rest of baseball......Idiots like "Red Sox Nation" are obsessed with the Yankees more so than their own team.....look at his little headline-"2004 the greatest choke of all time" Wouldn't a Red Sox fan rather enjoy the success of them finally winning a world series since 1918????

So A-Fraud is now A-Roid. The A-fraud thing didn't even have time to gain momentum before it became obsolete.

I was at Scampo's in the Liberty hotel and guess who was having dinner? Francona and Pedroia. I have to say, Pedroia really doesn't look like an all star athelete, he really just looks like a normal guy...

Hope you are doing great. Saw your email, let's hookup soon, when you wrote things weren't going so great but are looking up now so I am in the NFBC again (big mixed auction in ny and main event).

If Katie Couric was a judge, would ARod be the next to go on trial for perjury charges?

I see this kept posting somehow, trying to remove the duplicates, but can't figure out how to delete it. I hate looking at the same thing over and over again...sorry all.

I'm confident Raffy Palmiero wasn't on Roids....he said so in front of Congress. It's gotta be true.

Lets face it. The whole era will have a footnote to it. If they all were doing it I guess the playing field was level.

Eddie - I know exactly what you are saying. I believe Manny is clean and although he won't pass Bonds in HR, he can set alltime RBI record. I think he has been clean - maybe I am wrong, but I think he is and am pulling for him.

Is that how bad this has gotten - where someone would actually root for a bum like Manny if he isn't on their team - now that's truly sad. Time to face facts that Babe Ruth is still the greatest home run hitter of all time.

Oh, by the way, this is yet another example of Canseco having it right - he said that Arod was dirty, and everyone snickered, called him a kook - but as he was before - he was telling the truth - the evidence keeps mounting against anyone named in some way by Canseco to the point where I see no reason to doubt any of the names he named.

There was obviously a clubhouse culture in Texas which likely started with Canseco's arrival in the second half of '92. Irod was a young player who had never shown much power and Palmiero brought these homer totals from his first five full seasons (8,8,14,26,22) into 93 where he suddenly blossomed into a prolific power hitter.

Arod arrives in 2001 along with fellow free agent and known juicer Ken Caminiti (who would be dead three years later). Ruben Sierra, the man ironically traded for Canseco in 92,also returned to Texas that year to rejuvinate his flagging career by "suddenly" finding his power stroke again.

Some other interesting names that emerge in Texas at the same time: Michael Young, Hank Blalock, Travis Hafner and Carlos Pena. I think everyone already suspects Hafner was using, but I think evidence is at least as good against Blalock as well who like Hafner has suffered through "injuries" lately.

One more name from the Texas files - Gabe Kapler - he was there in 200-2001 and I still remember those pictures that showed up of him that ST, the guy looked more like a body builder than a ballplayer. Who knows how long Arod was juicing, or when he stopped - but this is a look in one clubhouse - and it doesn't look good does it.

What are the chances that Bonds miraculously gets off? (seeing how the judge may throw out the positive drug tests)

If he does does that mean he could play again? I do remember something said about those without sin casting the first stone.

Knock me over with a feather!

Next thing you know, they'll be saying that Bill Hall, Helton, and Hafner were on steroids too.

The truly sad thing is that Major League Baseball and the Players Union were supposed to come competely clean for the Mitchell report, yet there are at least 104 names that are "out there".

We, as fans, will probably never know the full extent of steroids in the game as long as the game is run by people who "cover up" first and answer questions later. A practice that they are accustomed to in their business worlds.

What we, as fans, can hope for, is that this chapter of baseball history is behind us. We can only hope that if Prince Fielder hits 62 home runs this year and breaks the "real" seasonal record that it was zucchini driven and not by steroids.

Oh, and one more sad thing- This news will bring Jose Canseco back in front of cameras. The world does not need Jose Canseco in front of cameras.

to me the worst sidenote or even better, sideshow, to this, is that it brings canseco back in the news. so what if he was telling the truth, he's nothing but a back stabbing RAT who's only out to take everybody down with him after he screwed up his career.
