Are we sold out yet?

Greg - you should sound out an email blast every day showing how many spots are avilable. my guess is you'd fill this thing up by the weekend!

We have now filled up our seventh full main event league in New York City with the arrival of NFBC Charter Member Kevin Cummings. Welcome back Kevin. I knew you'd eventually jump in!! :D

I feel confident that we can fill an eighth league in New York yet. We had 135 owners last year and unless Tom was a bad host last year, NY should at least bring 120 back. Let's keep it rolling and add 15 more owners in New York. Thanks all.

He is on here morning, noon, and night, and I wouldn't be shocked if he is "cold calling" people to fill this up!

As someone new to baseball, it is much appreciated. Hopefully this fills up by this Monday (that is my prediction) as I could use my draft spot ASAP so I can try and not embarrass myself this year! ;) Thanks Billy. Yeah, I'm forced to sleep alone these days because I stay on the computer too late at night and get up at 4 or so to get back on the computer. It's hard to sleep when you know what is at stake. But don't worry about me, I'll get rewarded with a different kind of sleep in Las Vegas!! :D

The great thing about this strong response is that I feel as refreshed like never before. Tom and I are working hard but it's not the same feeling as it was in football when I was fighting a market that was willing to lose money, fighting my own customers with bad behavior on the boards, fighting the economy and fighting our own model with high guarantees. We set up lofty guarantees here in baseball, but this is such a dedicated customer base and the product is unique to the market that it's been a joy to assemble this contest this year. Very little pressure this time around and the Corona's will be very enjoyable for me in Vegas.

Thanks all and let's keep this going. We're not done yet!! ;)

The NFBC has become the teacher's pet.

Look for an e-mail update later this afternoon or tonight. I think it's time to up the KDS deadline, to add KDS to auction leagues and to give our latest figures for the online championship. Look for one soon.

Here we go: We're starting our eighth main event league in New York today with the arrival of new NFBC member Rob Zamojski of Fair Long, New Jersey. That leaves us with 28 spots left for the main event. Let's fill up this eighth league in the Big Apple and make this work perfectly in each city. Thanks all.

As a Jersey boy, I tend to think this guy might be from Fair Lawn, NJ. Either way, nice to have another Jersey guy heading into the Big Apple. Best of luck Rob.

Will Robertson of Sparta, New Jersey grabbed our 30th and last spot in the phone/online league, filling up two leagues now in that format. Will is an NFBC Charter Member who has been with the NFBC all six years and we're very glad to have him back on board for the big dance. That leaves us with 27 SPOTS FOR THE MAIN EVENT.

Greg, nice job closing this out. The remaining 27 spots should be a walk in the park compared to Will :D

We now have ONE SPOT LEFT IN LAS VEGAS for a guaranteed spot in a full league as Les Travis and Gary Sturm of Tucson, Arizona grabbed the 149th spot there. Gary and Les have separate teams in the $650 Mixed Auction League and are now in for the NFBC Doubleheader, teaming up for a main event team. Awesome guys and welcome aboard.

The heading says 25 spots left. 25 or 26? Yes, I am actually excited about your countdown, Greg. I don't know if that is a reflection of how much I like fantasy baseball or of how cold it is outside!

Well, I couldn't announce the 365th signup before I left for work because we're trying to move one owner from the phone league to the Las Vegas League. If we do that, it pushes over 150 with the new signups. Two owners are now willing to jump in for Las Vegas, taking us into an 11th main event league there, knowing that they could be part of a teleconference league. That being said, who knows right now with the roll we're on, maybe we fill an 11th league out there.

More signups to be announced soon. I think we have 23 spots left now!!!

Well, what do you think? Are we going to sell this main event out for a fifth straight year? Even in a down economy? What is the relationship of new vs returning in 2009 compared to 2008? You seem to have always had a large number of loyal returners (repeat offenders, recidivism or whatever you want to call it :D ), so if you are able to hold onto ratio of returners, I think that is a good sign. To be honest, you have already exceeded (again) my expectations.

Great job and congratulations! You probably already mentioned this earlier, but is Meat gonna make it or is out doing a tour?
The return rate this year for the main event is unreal and is the saving grace of our event this year. I'll admit that we don't have as many new participants in the main event as past years, but the number of new participants for the online championship is through the roof. So we have definitely added a new spark to our overall event.

I can tell you right now we have over 75 percent of last year's participants back in the main event and we may finish closer to 80 percent, which is almost a record number for us. I track this every year and 75% is solid; 80% is fabulous.

Only one team from last year's Top 45 has not signed up this year. Only four from the Top 67 are not back and only 13 of the Top 113 are not back. Interesting, huh? :D

I've e-mailed Meat, but haven't gotten a reply from him in almost a year. I'm sure he's busy. Shame as he really loved our event the first three years, but the Bat out of Hell III tour has been three years long for him. He's the best, he really is. He autographed a baseball for me in 2005 and I have it at my desk. It says, "To Greg, Give me %" Meat Loaf
I "think" you now have brought that slippery fish that was the "one team from the top 45" back into the fold. :D

We're one spot away from 370 teams as we're closing in on our 25th league overall. We're glad to welcome another new team to the New York main event as we're working on our eighth league in the Big Apple. Welcome aboard Michael Ferguson and Andy Escala of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. Glad to have you on board.

Shawn Johnson of Fairport, New York becomes our 370th team for the main event as he has decided to throw his hat back into the ring for the main event. Shawn is already signed up for both Super Draft Leagues on March 20-21, but the lure of the $100,000 grand prize was just too good to resist. He finished 48th overall last year, so it's great to have him back again. Thanks Shawn.

We now have more than 370 main event signups as we start a third league for anyone who can only make on the phone. It's foolish to turn anyone away and we may need single phone hookups in certain cities if we don't fill perfectly and we've worked it out with MockDraftCentral.com to help us if we need them to monitor a third draft. They've agreed, so here we go for anyone who wants to jump in via the phone.

Welcome aboard Lance Smith and Thomas Bonds of Alabaster, Alabama. Great to have you in the NFBC for the first time.

Have we stalled, or is Greg just holding back for a big splash!

The countdown is like a drug! A couple of NFBC veterans are still finalizing their work schedules and hopefully jumping in tomorrow or this weekend. There's still a few teams out there who I know will be back, or will be surprised that they're not coming back. But to hit 390, we'll also need some new teams who haven't competed before. So stay tuned.

We have talked about when we'd like to pull the draft orders. I know when I would like to do it. Whether we can get there remains to be seen. It will be no later than Sunday March 15th but I do think we'll do it sooner. How much sooner is the question.
