KDS Deadline For The Main Event: March 10th

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Wed Feb 25, 2009 2:05 am

Okay, it's time to get serious about the main event. Let's set a deadline of Wednesday, March 11th at noon CST to set your KDS preferences for the main event. We'll grab those preferences that day and put them in an Excel document for us to use once we randomly select the leagues the next day or two after that. Our hope is that we can sell this out early so that we can get your leagues set up and your draft spots to you before the weekend prior to the next weekend's draft. It might not work out that way, but that's the plan.

So everyone should set their KDS preferences now and tweak them as we get closer to the deadline. KDS is s service to you, the player, so please take advantage of it. More than 75% of the main event participants set their KDS last year and you should use this as part of your Draft Day strategy, too.

If you haven't done it yet, here's what you need to do:

Go to your MY TEAMS page and click on your team link (Team Ambrosius, for instance)

Then click on MY SETTINGS in the upper right-hand corner

Then pull down to DRAFT PREFERENCES

There you'll see 1-15 in order. Put in the order that you'd like from top to bottom, your preferred draft spot. So if you were pulled first out of the hat, what spot would you most like to draft from. If it's one, then leave 1 first. If it's 5, then put five at the top and then list the rest in order. You need 15 unique numbers ranked from most preferred to least preferred.

We do this so that hopefully you get a draft spot you're comfortable with. In the past, the average draft preference per person is around 4.8, which means everyone gets their fourth or fifth preference. In some leagues, 5 or 6 owners will get their first preference. And if you're the last one selected in that league, you could still get your 15th preference. But at least this process helps us alleviate that to some point.

Okay, if you have any questions on this, post here. Otherwise, get busy and start tweaking your KDS preferences. Thanks all.

I will create a separate thread in the Ask The NFBC Section with more Draft Day questions. It's time to get busy on these boards, so get ready for a record number of posts from me the rest of this week. :D

KDS Deadline For The Main Event: March 10th

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Wed Mar 04, 2009 5:23 am

Okay, it's time to update the KDS preferences' deadline since we're headed towards a sellout sooner than expected. The KDS deadline for the main event is now set for Tuesday, March 10th at 1 p.m. EST. I'll have STATS send us an Excel document of these by Tuesday night or Wednesday morning and then we'll proceed accordingly. If we're sold out, we'll try to announce draft spots on Thursday morning. We still have to clear all credit cards and such, so I can't guarantee this but the goal is to get this done on Thursday or Friday. Stay tuned.

I will set a KDS deadline for the Super Leagues and the Ultimate Leagues for Tuesday at 1 p.m. EST as well. I know these are already full, but I've told Jill not to hit these cc's until Friday of this week. These are big amounts and we'll need a few days to make sure these all go through. With any luck, maybe we can kick off the season early by announcing these draft spots first on Wednesday afternoon. That we can do.

And finally, I'll start a new thread for this, but we'll add KDS for all NFBC Auction Leagues as well. It doesn't play as big a role in auction leagues, but since we do go in serpentine order for the reserve rounds, we might as well give you a shot at your preference as well. Whatever order we pull for the auction leagues will be for the nomination order and then the following serpentine reserve round draft. The nomination does NOT go serpentine, it goes 1-15 (or 1-13 or 1-12) and back to 1 each round. The reserve rounds will snake down and back up.

Sound good on all? Thanks and let's get READY TO RUMBLE!! :D

Greg or Tom,

I am unable to set my KDS as I don't have a listing under my teams for 2009 NFBC. Please help me when you can. I signed up around March 1st for the Main in Chicago.

Thanks

Pat, you do have a team entered in our system. You must have used another user name and password. Do you remember what it was? Email me at [email protected] and we'll get this figured out.

Please remember that Tuesday afternoon is the KDS deadline for the NFBC main event, the NFBC Auction Leagues, the NFBC Super Draft Leagues and both Ultimate Leagues. We will download the KDS settings tomorrow afternoon and begin announcing the draft orders this week for all of those leagues. Thanks and good luck.

Okay, I'm sure most of you will wait until after our KDS deadline has passed before answering this, but maybe some will reveal their picks. What does your KDS look like today for the main event?

I'd be interested to hear more of where you'd like to draft moreso than your exact KDS. Are you still a 1-5 person, more middle of the pack or looking to score big on the turn? Should be an interesting set of KDS choices once they're all revealed and we will post them here later on.

Okay, what does your KDS preference look like?

As of now, I have 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9...

There appear to be a consensus top 4 (Hanley, Wright, Reyes, Pujols), Then a consensus 5-7 in Miggy Cabrera, Braun, Sizemore. There is also someone in the 8-15 range that stands out above the rest, that Id love to snag at 8. After that, the players going 9-15 seem interchangeable to me, so picking from the end would appear to me at least to be more beneficial than 9-11.

That's at least how I see it thus far, but being a first timer to this event, who knows how it will work out

I was at #6 last year by choice, and the year before I liked the back at #12. This year I like the 'latter end' of the top 5.. er, 4. Would like to get a piece of the consensus top tier, but don't like to sit in #1 or #2 because of the long wait. Afraid to get killed by a run on a position. I tend to put 3,4 guys aside and say, "ok.. when one goes I have to pounce". Well, that one can turn into a run over ~26 picks, and I'm screwed. Just my 2c.

Is it too late to set the KDS for the Main Event?

I started with 2. Figgered I'd be the only one with that.

1,5,4,2,6,7,3,8,9,13,14,15,12,11,10 I like anywhere from 1 thru 9 but to me the 10 thru 15 are pretty even and would rather get the quick 2nd rounder.

Going 5 as your second choice is really interesting, since there seems to have been a consensus top 4 to emerge since A-Rod's injury. Obviously, there is a guy outside that group that you like better than Pujols, Wright, Reyes....
