Should We Run KDS For the Auction Leagues?

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Tue Mar 03, 2009 4:48 am

This point was brought up on the NFFC boards and today someone asked about using KDS in the NFBC Auction Leagues. It's a good point and one worthy looking into and even implementing this year.

Right now in the NFBC Auction Leagues, we just randomly pick the nomination order and go in order for all 23 rounds of nominating players. Then we use that same order in serpentine fashion for the reserve rounds.

We do have the ability to set KDS preferences for the auction leagues if there's enough sentiment to do that. Some people may see a strategy in that and some won't, but I have no problem taking the extra time to set these leagues up that way. So if you have an opinion on this subject and you're in one of our live auction leagues, post here. I'd be interested in knowing what you think.

All auction leagues have KDS preferences set up right now, so there is nothing we need STATS to do to make this happen. If we agree that there's merit to doing this, we'll set the KDS deadlines soon for these leagues and run 'em just like we do the main event. Thanks all.

As for KDS in the auction leagues, obviously not the same implications as the draft but might as well do it if not too much trouble. Some people would like to nominate early, some people may want to pick early right after the auction, some people may find benefit in waiting to the end and getting 2 picks at the corner, other teams may like to sit in a certain spot at the actual auction as to see the board better or hear the actual bidding. I guess my point is if it is not too much trouble, why not? I personally do not care as much but why leave it to chance when some teams may have an actual preference. Just my two cents. Thanks.

KDS makes sense to me too. It's a "why not" type of scenario.

So long as the nomination order does not snake which it doesn't (except on Fantasy Auctioneer which drove me nuts), then I didn't see a need for KDS, BUT since the reserve follow the same order, I think it makes sense to offer it.

So yes to auction KDS.

So yes to auction KDS. Wouldn't it make far more sense to snake the reserve round (not nominations, just the reserve)? Not snaking the draft portion seems needlessly unfair.

I was the one who brought it up...last year some people in the $650 Ny Auction seemed upset because of the reserve round picking...I think most of us don't care where we nominate it's the reserve round that might mean a little more...

I say yes also to KDS

Sorry, thought it was obvious the reserves should be snaked.

Yes to KDS, but only snake the reserves!!!

The reason I don't think the nominations should be snaked is during dollar days, no one should get two in a row that they want

my original question was just pertaining to the original order that was developed, mainly regarding the reserve draft order. i felt like a KDS could be used to determine draft order. personally, i don't think it should have anything to do with the auction except who nominates in what order, no snake in the auction. most people will probably go 1..15, just to have their prefence for the first pick that they think slipped through the auctions. others will want the daily double at the turn. to each his own.

Nominations are not snaked. The reserve rounds are already snaked. Thus the KDS does make sense to add to our auction leagues.

Carry on.

Greg-Whatever the majority decides-I do not care. For the mixed auctions I think it will make a difference-for AL and NL only it will not make a material difference-put me down for 1-12 or 1-13.

Carry on. OK, good. I recalled otherwise but maybe that was an earlier year.

KDS for the auction - sure, why not. I'll say only 73% will go 1-15. :D
