NFBC Main Event Draft Orders: Noon ET On Friday

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Thu Mar 12, 2009 5:39 am

The field has been set for the NFBC's main event, so it's time to announce the leagues and the draft spots. We're just finalizing some credit cards and payment issues and then we'll make the field official tomorrow morning. We will announce everything online tomorrow starting promptly at noon ET, giving the East Coasters a chance to break away for an hour to see the draft spots.

Here's the process on how we'll do this and let us at least have a little fun with this:

** We will announce the main event leagues city-by-city on the General NFBC Discussion Thread after we post each league individually on the League Forum. We do this so that you can go there to talk to your new leaguemates and to have fun there. So keep an eye on the League Forum thread for a listing of every individual league. We'll also create separate city threads on the General NFBC Discussion forum once all of the leagues have been announced so that you can easily see every other league in your city.

This will start at noon and I trust we'll have every league posted within an hour. Maybe Tom and I will then have a celebratory lunch/drink after they're posted. :D

** We will randomly pick the draft orders first thing tomorrow morning, so feel free to say a special prayer tonight before going to bed. :D We will manually run KDS for each league first thing in the morning and then have everything set and ready to go by noon ET.

This should be a fun, fun day. I think our record for number of MB members at one time is 294, set this football season in the NFFC. Maybe we can top that this year with 390 teams and many co-managers.

Thanks all. If you have any questions, feel free to post them here and we'll see you tomorrow right here for the lucky draft picks. Good luck all and again, THANK YOU for a great year.

Will my neighbors find it odd, when I show up at their doorsteps tonight singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame"?

"But tomorrow is Christmas, I am simply caroling, Isn't that what you do?"
"Everyone is born right-handed, only the greatest overcome it."

Okay, we have a perfect 390 teams as far as we're concerned. It's been a great day as this fell perfectly when all was said and done. Here's the breakdown, so get ready for some fun tomorrow morning when we announce all of the leagues and the draft spots at noon EST:

Las Vegas:

159 teams: 10 full leagues + 9 owners hooked up with NY

New York:

111 teams: 7 full leagues + 6 owners hooked up with LV

Chicago:

60 teams: 4 full leagues with everyone in CHI

Orlando:

24 teams: 1 full league + 9 teams hooked up with 6 phone/online members

Phone/Online:

30 owners: 2 full leagues all on the phone/MockDraftCentral.com

This is a great solution to a sellout at 390. We feel very comfortable announcing the leagues tomorrow morning and the phone leagues finished as we expected. Everybody is in the same situation now and there's no need to push for 405. Trust me, I was taking the industry's temperature on that the last two days and I've decided to sell out at 390 and announce the draft picks tomorrow, giving everyone 8 full days of preparation. This is the best scenario for everyone.

Next year we hit 405. ;) Good luck all and thanks for the debate on that other thread, but Tom and I had this covered right from the beginning. ;) Don't feel bad, even my kids don't trust me most of the time. :D

Damn, I can't ensure avoiding those Vegas drafters -- even 2,158 miles* away!

Actually I do like Greg's solution. Sounds like a plan.

It's noon somewhere in the world, ain't it?

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

T minus 125 minutes and Tom has all of the leagues randomly picked. Man, this old fart does good work on his birthday. Now it's time to run the KDS preferences. I hope all of you picked the right slots!!! :D Good luck and don't blame Tom for any of the picks that weren't as desired. It would be bad to tick off an old man on his B-Day. :D

T minus 60 minutes. We're just shy of 100 MB members, which would have been the criteria to release these draft picks early. Damn. ;)
