Signups Are Now Available For $650 Auction Leagues

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Thu Nov 18, 2004 8:03 am

I apologize for the delay, but our online registration page now has areas to sign up for the $650 AL-only and NL-only Auction Leagues in each city, along with Mixed Auction Leagues in each city. We also have a spot on the first page to sign up for the six magazines each attendee will receive via mail well before the draft. If you just want to receive them in your goodie bag at the draft, there is no charge. If you want them mailed directly to you in February, just add $10 for shipping and handling to your charge. If you are already signed up and didn't have a chance to click that beforehand, just shoot me an e-mail and I'll take care of that for you.

Okay, now all should be set. The Auction Leagues will be staggered, so you can do both. I haven't set a time for the mixed league auctions yet, but I assume it will be Friday at 4 p.m., or the same time as the AL Auction Leagues. Sorry, but there's only so much time in the weekend to do everything.

Remember, we won't charge your credit cards until Feb. 1 and I won't charge any of the Mixed League Auction registrants until I know we have a full league in each city. I hope that helps everyone as the early signups are going well so far. We should have a great NFBC setup in each city this year. See you all in March.

Will Ron Shandler's Baseball Forcaster be included in the early mailed out magazines?

I don't think so, although I will check with Ron to see what he wants to do. It's funny you said that because I just placed my order for that today. It comes out Dec. 15th and it's a must for early projections and rankings. Let me see what we can work out with Ron and find out how many copies we may be able to give away to early signees.

I think the least you should do is give one to the guy who signed up first.

Who was that guy anyway? :D

My goal in New York and Las Vegas is to host the NL-only $1,250 and $650 Auction Leagues starting around 9 o'clock local time and then start the AL-only $1,250 and $650 Auction Leagues around 4 p.m. If I leave seven hours between the auctions, people should still be able to do both and have an hour inbetween to catch their breaths and something to eat. Right now I'd probably host the Mixed Auction Leagues at 4 p.m. in each city, so you couldn't do all three or the AL and the Mixed Auction Leagues this year. I hope that helps.

In Chicago where there wasn't enough interest last year to organize even one Auction League, I'm going to push to host an NL-only Auction League at 4 p.m. With the Cubs having a strong influence in the Chicago area, I'm going to do the NL-only Auction League at the prime time and hope for enough interest to host at least one. I know of at least three guys who will do it now (they also wanted to do it last year) and we'll see if we can add to that. If there's interest in an AL-only or Mixed Auction League, we'll work those in as well.

I hope this clarifies it more. I will add this schedule to the Schedule of Events page and make it more definitive next week. This has been a work in progress which has generated more interest than I ever imagined.
