One of the reasons I posted these is so that everyone can see what everyone else was thinking. But interestingly, I just took a phone call from someone who got the 14th pick and was upset that he got his 14th KDS preference. Well, unfortunately, in baseball some folks prefer NOT to get the last four picks and thus if nobody else in your league decided to drop back in the pack, then it is possible to get your 14th KDS preference and even 15th. We hope that doesn't happen, but it can.

3RR would change that, but so far we've seen no need to implement that in baseball as teams have won from every spot in the draft, with no real strong indicator that one spot is better than others.

KDS is great. You can win from any spot. Folks put too much stock in their #1 pick. I got 13 in the main which was my 10th selection.

I would love to see 3RR in baseball. I think it would work very well in baseball. I think your KDS would be evenly spread and more people would get their preference. To be honest I thought baseball had KDS already until I saw Greg's post. And, I still wanted a top four selection.

kamakazi You could be right. It isn't as obvious a need in baseball, but given that the majority of players want to be in the top 4-6 each season, it might make sense. If it would even out the distribution, probably a good thing.

3RR (Third Round Reversal) would be great for the strategy of setting KDS, I agree with that, but that's not the goal of 3RR. The goal of 3RR is to balance the competition and the NFBC already seems to be competitively balanced with the serpentine draft. In fact, the No. 1 position has been a tough position to win a title from in recent years, so how would 3RR improve that?

I'm not against it; just stating that I agree 3RR would present a greater KDS strategy and probably happier folks when they see their draft picks, but I'm not sure it would be perfect for the competition.

The one downer of today is the number of folks who have contacted me to complain where they are drafting. Those people are at the bottom of the draft order, and as I've shown above 13-15 weren't desired by a lot of people and thus those folks pulled 13th or 14th out of a hat certainly could have gotten their 13th or 14th KDS preference. 3RR would prevent that because many folks would move to the bottom of the draft, but again I think it could skew the results. Maybe, maybe not.

Here's what i did. 3 4 2 5 6 7 1 10 9 8 11 12 13 14 15.Every year is different last year i wanted 11 or 12. This year i felt their was a top 7 Rameriz,Puljols,Reyes,and Wright followed by Sizemore,Cabrera,and Braun.After these 7 you could go 10 different way's so picking 8 threw 15 can look so different in draft's.

kamakazi Couldn't disagree more. I understand where you are coming from, but 3RR is just not for baseball, or better stated, would not improve what we already have IN MOST YEARS. It works for football because the points are so skewed to a VERY small class of RB's, so the top of the draft do end up with an advantage without 3RR. In baseball, the difference between the top few players chosen and the middle or end group in the first round is just not that much. Also, it is, in my experience, more frequent in baseball that players from later in Round 1 or even in Round 2 (Pujols) end up at the top of the points list.

As to the whining about not getting their preferred KDS (and I mean the real whiners, not just the folks who are disappointed, but see it as part of the contest), this year is a bit of an anomoly. In prior years, the KDS was all over the board. One persons #1 choice was another #14. This year, a greater portion of the preferences were alike or nearly alike heavily weighted to the top 5...I mean 4 players. It was pretty obvious and every one should plan for all outcomes. I myself got my #8 pick.

It was two years ago I think that there was so much talent available from the backend first round turnaround that many found that very preferable and many of those were VERY successful. It has been proven time and time again you can win from any spot in baseball (another difference to football, which is why 3RR works there).
