This kid is going to be a stud. He was the centerpiece of the Texiera trade. He hit .295 and stole 54 bases in the minors last year in 482 AB.

The speed will be there for sure... But temper your thoughts on that 295 avg.. Look for 270+...

Found a memo crumpled on the floor after draft....it was hard to read, but stated something like Man Burss, 1012 rs laer, btter vlue

If I wrote it, Elvis Andrus: K's close to 20%, BB only 8%. Commits to many errors. Too young and no power. Speed and Speed alone. Keeper league, jump all over.....09 wasted pick. Let someone else be the hero

if this was a Texas pitcher, then i would be really skeptical about his potential. but, this is a texas hitter! if there is one thing texas knows, it is position players. their braintrust has no clue when it comes to pitching, but hitting wise, these guys have it down pact. they constantly produce fantasy studs, like Texeira, Blaylock, Kinsler, Cruz, Murphy, Young, etc...

and, i can't stress this enough. they moved ALL-STAR SS Michael Young to 3rd to make room for this guy. you don't move an all-star, especially when the move pisses him off, if you aren't sure that the guy you are making room for is going to be a stud.

Real baseball.

Andrus is the shortstop because of his range and what he can do in the field. You don't really think they're moving Young because of the way Andrus hits, do you?

He's a 20 year old kid who's defense is ahead of his offense. The Rangers can take the offensive hit, they're expecting him to hit 9th and be in the .250 range. But it is the runs that he'll save the pitching staff that has him in the Bigs.

tell me how many shortstops have made it at the big league level at THE AGE OF 20. now tell me how many of them stole 30+ bases.

on top of that,

1. never played AAA.

2. never hit over .300 in ANY minor league season.

3. this spring he's hitting .265 with a whopping 2 steals in 49 AB.

and somehow this kid is going to last the whole year and ring up 30+ steals?

pipe dream my friends. anyone drafting him AND counting on 30+ steals is gonna be very dissappointed.

in the last let's say 10 years...how many shortstops have made it at the big league level at THE AGE OF 20. now tell me how many of them stole 30+ bases.
