Post by Gordon Gekko II » Mon Mar 23, 2009 5:43 am

I’m only in one on-line championship league, and my strategy for that (12 teamer) is different than I used for the main event (15 teamer). So, there are no worries in posting my main event team. If you have opinions, please post them. Thanks in advance.

Interesting. Thanks for posting.

Last year you said Thome was too old. This year he is on your team. Did he just get younger and nobody told me about it? So, I guess everybody has value at a certain point?

Looks like you jumped on a lot of guys early, but if those are "your" guys and you had them in your plans it's probably better to jump on them then wait and miss out.

Overall, I do like your team. I show about 280-290 HR with 150 SB, so the offense is well balanced. Unfortunately a huge chuck of your SB's are tied up with one guy, but that isn't a factor unless he sits the bench.

I have 6 of your hitters on my sattelite teams!

what do u think of the team in general jack?

i'm only counting on gomez for 30 in my projections. in any case, MR. A.McCutchen will be playing shortly and will provide any needed speed.

I would say that the make or break player on your team is Alexi Ramirez. Taking him in round 2 is either the best or worst decision of your draft. I like him, but I am a little suprised that you took a guy with only 480 major league AB's in the 2nd round. What do you project his numbers to be?

I really liked where you got Hunter, who I think will rebound nicely this year. Blake and Andr Caberara were good picks too.

my projections have him at 22hr, 14sb, with a .290 avg.

[/QUOTE]I think that anyone who has a plan, executes it, gets to their projections and goals, has done a good job. When I look at your team and without crunching the categories in my head, you definitely have your hitting categories covered. You had a plan and met the goals. I could care less that you jumped the ADP a bit on players, because if they fit the plan, go with it. We did that with Kemp at pick 16.

The key will be whether your pitchers will get to the numbers you need. Considering your success last year with who you drafted late, I have confidence that you will get there one way or another.

Hard to put a guy in the 2 hole with a .317 OBP.

Eli, is that response to Gordon? Yes.

Its jump or miss out from the 2-hole. This is true. I haven't had to draft from a corner spot yet this year, but I have in years past and it can be troublesome if you plan on waiting on anyone.

I agree with that. In one league last year I drafted Pence 2nd, Cano 3d, Weeks 4th, Zimmerman 5th, Delmon Young 6th....and still managed to win the league!

I drafted 15 in your league, I felt like we had a tough draft, a lot of good drafters. It also seemed that a lot of guys that I was counting on to in the 13-16 round went much earlier,

I don't really think you went to early on guys because when you're not picking for 28 picks, you gotta just take your guys when you can get em

Good luck this season I expect our league to be very competitive
