Did he have bacon, because I imagine that would of made it larger!

This could all be VERY important information in helping his groin heal!

Hopefully it's just a case of teams being cautious with their assets. SARASOTA, Fla. -- Outfielder Carlos Gomez doesn't often let injuries keep him from the field or slow him down in anything he does.

But a sore back has kept him out of the Twins' lineup since Saturday -- not that he wanted to sit out, he said on Thursday. He said that he took it easy this week because the trainers were telling him that it was best not to push it.

"I'm ready," Gomez said. "My back is feeling good. I'll be playing [on Friday]."

Gomez has been eager to get back on the field, so he was at Hammond Stadium on Wednesday -- the team's off-day -- to get some treatment for his back and work out. He had no problems with his back at all, and he made sure to tell his skipper that as soon as he arrived at the ballpark on Thursday.

"He'll be in the lineup tomorrow," manager Ron Gardenhire said before the Twins' 6-4 loss to the Reds on Thursday night. "He told me he's ready to go."

I will continue to draft Billingsley as normal. I do not see this as being analogous to an Ervin Santana or Lackey. Show me a pitcher without question marks: J Santana (elbow), Peavy (shoulder and San Diago offense), Webb (forearm),Beckett (consistency and off year), Lirano (elbow and diminished mph), C Lee (can it continue?) So who has no question marks? Have to draft someone.

However, you look at guys like Dan Haren and Roy Oswalt...there are no '?'s', only justifications that they are/are not fantasy 'Aces'.

PHOENIX -- Chad Billingsley's strained right groin improved enough Friday that he extended a brief bullpen session into a normal one.

"I started slow, but it felt fine and it turned into a regular bullpen," said Billingsley, who felt a twinge in Monday's game against the Angels. "I made 30 pitches, and it went well. I threw everything."

Billingsley said he expects to throw a simulated game on the Minor League side Sunday instead of taking his normal start for the Dodgers against the White Sox. He also said he expects to be ready for the regular season. Billingsley's first start would be in the club's third game in San Diego on April 8.

"The past few days, I could tell playing long toss that I wasn't too worried about it," Billingsley said. "On the mound it felt normal. It wasn't game effort, but it felt like a normal bullpen."

While Billingsley downplayed the seriousness of his injury, manager Joe Torre insisted the club will exercise caution with Billingsley, who suffered a similar injury earlier last spring that Torre felt contributed to Billingsley's rocky spring and April.

"I'm still concerned," Torre said before Billingsley's bullpen session. "You don't really know until they get into a game."

Billingsley said he also had a bad groin strain in 2004. He said the treatment and recovery schedule for this one is patterned after the one last spring, which is why he is throwing in a simulated game Sunday and not the regular game.

"I'll still try to get to 90 pitches," Billingsley said. "It will just be monitored."

Verducci’s list is based on the concept that a young starter (age 25 or below) is at an increased risk of injury if he surpasses his innings pitched total from the previous season by 30 frames or more.

oops- Nolasco 27 is too old also

oops- Nolasco 27 is too old also here are two more

Matt Garza (25), +38.1 IP

Garza’s 25 postseason innings pushed him into Verducci territory.

Brandon Morrow (24), +32 IP

Looked at wrong stat Column :( - 63 AB's for Nolasco and 200 plus inning as you pointed out correctly.

Just too old to fit the bill.

Chad Billingsley threw about 65 pitches in a simulated game this morning, mostly against Casey Blake and Danny Ardoin, and said he felt ``great'' afterwards.

That's great news for the Dodgers, who were worried his groin injury could affect his availability to start the season.

``He threw all his pitches and had absolutely no hesitation,'' Joe Torre said. ``It's not a game yet, but I feel a lot better watching him today he didn't look like he was favoring anything he said he felt great and he worked hard.''

Chad Billingsley-S- Dodgers Apr. 4 - 1:33 am et

Chad Billingsley yielded two runs over five innings Friday in a loss to the Brewers.

Billingsley needed to prove his groin was sound tonight, and he probably did that while striking out five and walking none. He should start the third game of the season.

Looks like Bills is ready to roll!!! :D
