Braun - right side_stiffness

Everyone knew Braun was hurt before draft day. It looks like this injury is going to linger quite a bit longer. I forsee his adp for the on-line championship to be in the 3rd round.

PHOENIX -- Ryan Braun's return to the Cactus League didn't last long.

Braun, the Brewers left fielder who is back from the World Baseball Classic, never took the bat off his shoulder in two plate appearances against the Dodgers and then left the game in the bottom of the fourth inning with what a Brewers spokesperson called "right side stiffness." Braun has been dealing with that ailment for about 10 days, and it's a recurrence of the problem that dogged him last August and September.

It would be very bad news for the Brewers if this injury lingers, but Braun did not seem worried before taking the field on Wednesday. He said the current injury "is in the same place, but it's far less severe," than the intercostal strain that he played through in 2008.

"It's a little scary because it's similar to last year," Braun said. "But the good thing is that I know what to expect, I know how to deal with it and get back on the field. It's not where it needs to be yet."

In the Sunday Super I had the 6 pick. I knew the Big 4 was going and didn't want anything to do with Braun. The gentleman picking 5 arrived early and we were chatting. I asked him who he was going to select and he said he wasn't sure but that he was leaning toward Braun.

I thought, "Yipee"!

Then a few other folks arrived early and the discussion got back to Braun with a couple people saying they didn't trust him with the injury and he wasn't telling the trainer the trught on how severe it was.

I'm sitting there thinking, "SSShit!". i tried to change the subject, but I felt the damage was done.

Anyways, the Big Four went as expected. Then the 5th owner was on the clock. He took his time with his picking causing me to get the sweaty palm. Finally he said Braun, and I was very happy.

braun has never been on my wish list as a first round pick. i know others love him, that's fine with me.

now, i won't say 5th round (yet), but 4th is certainly possible give this most troublesome and lingering injury!

If you are not up to 9-10th by saturday, I will truly be disappointed.

As a Brewers fan, I'm concerned about this. Braun was awful late last season while playing through the same injury. Even if this one is of lesser degree, it's likely going to impact him and perhaps significantly. I think the Brewers are going to suffer a major drop-off this season anyway - too many pitching questions and major issues at 2B, 3B and in the outfield (Cameron strikes out too much and Hart was pathetic in the last month of 2008). If Braun is limited or goes down, their season is over.

This is definitely something to keep an eye both for the Brewers and fantasy owners.

tom- if you don't want cameron- please send him back to the sox. every team he is on- the pitching improves. still a really good center fielder. besides- stiking out is what the sox do best. doesn't milwaukee have about 10 guys that every one loves in the minors that can't play the field? bring them all up. move everyone to a new position- throw bush out there and watch the fun!

But how serious is his most recent flare-up? Nobody was quite able to answer that question, including Braun, who admitted he is not 100 percent healthy but repeatedly told reporters that he was "fine."

That's not good enough for club officials, who are considering sending Braun to the doctor for a battery of tests. They want to know exactly what's going on with his lower back.

Ryan Braun told reporters Thursday that team officials have advised him not to swing a bat for the next few days.

Looks like we are down to 8th round!!!!!!

One hit in every 20 AB is all that separates a .250 and .300 avg. Cameron still fills the boxscore, and has solid stats for the games he plays at years end. Add that to his defense, and he's a great baseball player. Were talking real baseball here for a second, are we not?

~Lance [/QUOTE]I'll have to call a "numbers don't lie" on you, Lance. While true that just five more hits in 100 takes a .250 hitter to .300, it would be a lot easier in this theory for Polanco to hit .350 due to his contact rate than it would for Cameron to go from .243 to .293.

If you don't make contact, it erases all chances of getting a hit.
