Tejada gets probation
Does anyone else care that Tejada got a slap on the wrist (5k fine and one year probation) and avoided jail time?
Yes he cheated and yes he lied under oath, but to me he is the anti-clemens and the anti-bonds in so many ways. I hate to promote double standards, but Tejada has ALWAYS displayed an approachable and friendly demeanor while establishing himself as a positive clubhouse presence.
As a baseball fan who attends games on a semi-regular basis, I have major issues with Clemens and Bonds. They are both the most arrogant, selfish, and egomaniacal prima donnas this sport has ever seen. I realize it's hypocritical, but I hope Bonds and Clemens both find themselves behind bars, but I have no issue with a guy like Tejada who came clean and wasn't a jerk getting off easy.
Human nature and mistakes I can tolerate. Just can't rationalize an excuse for anyone to act like an a-hole like Roger and Barry have done for years when they make 20 million + a year to play baseball. Feel like prison could help teach them appreciation and humility. Anyone else feel that way?

I've quit caring what these guys get.
Bonds, Clemens, Tejada, Palmeiro, Sosa, McGwire, ARod, et al. It won't matter how nice or grumpy they are, it won't matter how much or little time they serve.
What will matter, is that they will have all played a major role in the steroid era.
The names are all tarnished.

Don't have him in a single league this year. I've never had Clemens in the NFBC, but I have been burned by Bonds

The names are all tarnished. On that note, are there any players you believe are clean from the era? The Arod revelation casts a pretty long shadow, but I believe Glavine, Maddux, and Smoltz were clean. If anyone gets in the Hall over the next 10 years, it better be these 3.

I'm guessing that list gets "outted" the month before next season. The last three or four years has seen a major steroid story the month before baseball starts. Conspiracy theorists have your way with that tidbit.
I'm also pulling for Griffey and Chipper to not be on the list, especially Chipper. The Braves were America's team for a long time, if Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz, or Chipper's name appears on that list it would really be disappointing for me and a big(ger) black eye for baseball.

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.
