Oh, I am sorry, in your previous post you said, "My bets are in the form of entry fees." Now you say you don't bet. Mark, you won't get burned by me. I am a man of my word. But hey, I understand, I have been burned myself. But all who know me know I am good for it. But don't say one thing and then come back and say something different. Good luck to you also.

No problem. Again, good luck. You obviously know your stuff and I am not taking that away from you. It is pretty remarkable to have 2 top 10 finishes in a row. In addition to winning the NFFC. Good luck with all your teams this year.

i'm a firm believer that in order for me to succeed at fantasy baseball, i need to do my homework each and every day. i don't take anything for granted.

i may not be as talented as some people, but i will attempt to overcome that by hard work.

I'm stating a fact: The loudest on the boards are sometimes the quietest in person. Not that Dyv or Fudd are quiet in person, but they are certainly different than their MB personas. :D

So carry on if it makes you feel better. I just know we have a lot of new members to the boards and at some point civility needs to take over stupidity.

It's the same day as my wedding anniversary I found out last weekend, so Jim and I are now attached forever. :D

In the midst of all the back and forth on this posting, one thing has been left out. Is this true? Are you going to be on ESPN? If so, what show, date, and time? Or, is this all part of the hype machine? Do tell....... that's the funny thing about this thread. I highly doubt that GG is going on ESPN to talk about the NFBC or fantasy baseball. If that were the case, we'd all hear about it and trump the great publicity for the industry. As it is, I trust this was a bogus post to get the boards active. It succeeded.

I look forward to the day when ESPN is smart enough to feature Shawn or Mark or Terry or Chris or Eddie or any of our NFBC guys on a fantasy baseball special. It would be good entertainment and good information.

A couple guy's who did the nfbc were on the MLB baseball channel last night. They got an hour and a half with Harold Reynolds and another mlb guy.I thought they did a great job and they worked very well with Harold Reynolds. Was bummed out that when talking high stakes fantasy baseball they couldnt give the NFBC a plug.

I am a new member and I for one love the smack talk.

I hope I do enough this year to get some headed my way next year.

Having smack talk directed towards you is one of the highest forms of flattery in a sense.

ESPN had a 1 hour fantasy baseball special on friday night. They had the usual so called fantasy experts like Eric Karabell and the untalented Mr. Roto Matthew Berry.Gordon Gekko would have been an upgrade if he were a guest on that show.If he wins the main event this year then ESPN might have to recognize his greatness. How could they not?

How bad was Matt Berry.Telling people not to draft closers you can get saves on the waiver wire.Ishe nuts some years when 14 other guys are looking for saves on the wire you just cant get them.He also doesnt have Ryan Howard in his top 20.

The problem with ESPN is there insistance to stick with a 10 team mixed league as their standard league. Of course you can find saves on the wire in a league this shallow!

While I understand their desire to make baseball more accessible to new players - by making it easier to play. But as the so called "Industry Leader" they do a dissservice to the entire industry by pushing this watered down product.

Then to compound matters they spout commentary geared to this format-basically giving no reason for those playing in deeper leagues to watch or read what they have to say.

MLB.com is just as bad with their fantasy game which has you draft an entire teams pitching staff to go along with your ALL Star 9 man lineup.

I checked out their fantasy show over the weekend for kicks - and thought the guys did a pretty good job. However, memo to Harold Reynolds, if you are on the panel for the inagural fantasy show I don't want to hear how you know nothing about fantasy, don't care about fantasy or thought it was silly when you were a player. You may think so - but it is likely that the majority of the people who will be regular viewers of your network DO - so shut up and let us try to enjoy the little bit of programming actually devoted to our game.

Ryan I am on board with you in that H Reynolds needs to take a time out! I used to enjoy his perspective when he was a regular on ESPN Baseball Tonight. But now the dude is way over the top.

I felt MLB fantasy baseball program was less painful to watch than ESPN's but still had to turn it off because of camera hog Harold.
I remember that...along with a few others from the NFFC and other circles. Kudos for that...but there's a huge difference between that and what Matthew Berry is now doing. Definitely not saying he's better than you at fantasy anything, but he was able to market himself and got very lucky with timing. I was able to meet him and hear his story last year. You could win the NFBC or NFFC five years in a row and it wouldn't get you to be ESPN's host or primary spokesperson of their fantasy sports endeavors. He didn't really get there based upon successful results as a participant of fantasy sports.

A side note re: targeting novice fantasy players...

USE THE 2 TO 5 PAGES OF WORTHLESS DRIVEL EXPLANING HOW TO PLAY FANTASY BASEBALL IN EVERY YEARS MAGAZINE with a simple...

If you are new to the rules of fantasy baseball, please go to NFBC.com for rules and league setup.

It's been over 20 years...I think folks would prefer to click on a link nowadays than have those pages clogged with the same crap year after year. Get more content in there! NFBC player content!!!

*Not ripping Fantasy Sports mags, as they only waste 2 pages in the first of their two seasonal fantasy baseball magazines. (2 too many!) :D

Other waste nearly 5 full pages some years.

Hey Greg, Nothing is bogus if it stirs up the message boards,,the message boards are just too quiet sometimes,,and Gekko would make a good host on ESPN,,Did you ever see his You Tube videos?

But his presence here just undermined whatever knowledge, insight and actual excitement that Sciano and Scwartz brought to the table.
Gecko,

Your in the jungle baby!

Rome is the man! Come on! Seriously, you may not like his schtick, but the guy has got some big ballz! Anyone that is willing to sit there and call a pro athlete by a female name to his face, and then do it again after the foot taller and 100 pound heavier athlete tells him that they better take a station break if he does it again, is okay in my book. They should errect a statue in Jim Rome's honor for this. If any of you have not seen this, or haven't seen it in a while, PLEASE click on the link below. I just watched it for the hundreth time, and it just gets better and better.

Also, as for Matthew Berry, this guy is a genius for marketing himself and getting on ESPN as the lead fantasy analyst, a job that would be Eric Karabell's if he had the face of Matthew Berry! Marketing though, is about all he should be commended for. I don't really care for his opinion on players, and I especially did not care for the third Crocidile Dundee movie, "Crocidile Dundee in Los Angeles." It was horrible! I loved the first movie, and the 2nd one wasn't all that bad either, but Berry ruined it all with part 3! He should have spent more time fine-tuning that script, and less time marketing himself as a fantasy guru. If he did that, he might have a multi-million dollar career as a screenwriter.
