1) i gave SEVERAL legitimate reasons why draft date is two weeks prior to the main and none of them had anything to do with march madness. it was your choice to disregard all of them and instead focus on all of the "attacks" that weren't really attacks and get into a grade school back and forth.
2) if you call multiple people stalkers (and you have done just that on these boards) it might be time to look in the mirror. others might not be the problem.

Anyone who drafted Lyon got what they deserved.
He was one of the worst closers in baseball last year.Look at his 2nd half numbers ,
era 7.19
whip 1.90
I dont trust closers with a less then 7.0 dom rate.
Rodney has the tools even in a bad year his 10.9 k rate is top notch. He did convert 13 saves in the 2nd half. It's all in Rodney's head if he can fiqure it out their will be a lot of happy Rodney owners who grabbed him after the 25th round.GG didnt even know you drafted Lyon till now and this is to all Lyon owners not just you. IVE BEEN pumping Rodney all spring.

unfortunatley for me, rodney went in the 22nd round b4 my pick. i had to switch gears and go arrendondo. i know a lot of lyon owners were able to back him up with rodney in the 24+ rounds. that wasn't the case in my league.
in any event, we both know that neither rodney nor lyon will have the most saves for DET at the end of the year

it's an honest question that i (and others) are curious about.
if greg's answer is..."i want it to coincide with the start of march madness", then that's his answer. again, just curious... This isn't that tough of a question to answer, especially after five straight years of sellouts for the live events and now a sellout for the followup online championship: Maybe this is the weekend most people prefer. Did you ever think of that?
Honestly, the Founding Fathers picked the Saturday after Opening Day to host drafts so that every owner knew who was on each MLB roster. That way nobody was fooled. But hosting an auction or a draft after Opening Day didn't seem to make sense to the masses and today a vast majority of leagues host their drafts before Opening Day, not after Opening Day.
I came up with the idea for the NFBC after attending the WCOFF in 2002. I saw how the first weekend of the NFL season was a big draw for that event and immediately approached Lenny and Emil about hosting baseball together during the first weekend of March Madness. I had already been hosting the Fantasy Sports Trade Conference that weekend and felt the draw of the NCAA tournament and a baseball draft two weeks before Opening Day could be a big draw for baseball. Plus we weren't as organized back then as we are now, so having some leeway to enter rosters made the most sense.
We still need several days to get 40+ rosters from the live events correct, but if push came to shove we could easily do this now with just one week before Opening Day. But you couldn't run FAAB that week because the free agent lists would be in constant flux. So you gain something and lose something with the move. As someone already said, the first FAAB period is now very important thanks to the date of our draft.
Who knows, maybe I'll add a second live event one week before Opening Day!!
I think someone else already likes that date.
But for the NFBC, I think most astute owners realize that injuries can happen no matter when we draft and no owner gains an advantage whether we draft 15 days before Opening Day, 8 days or 1 day. We're all playing under the same rules and injuries happen every single day in baseball. To keep changing the draft date to avoid that is stupid because injuries are just part of the game. The date we have chosen has led to sellouts every year since 2005 and the addition of our online championship sure seems to provide a nice two weeks of drafts.
I haven't seen the sentiment to move the draft date. Again, if enough people want a draft that weekend, hmmm, I can go back to Las Vegas for a second weekend of drafts.
Bring it on.

i think you would sellout either weekend. lackey owners would be first in line for a draft one week before the season.
thank you for the response. it's tough to argue with sellouts

We start football mode around here in four days. Unreal. We need to hire more people for these events.
I love our KDS/3RR for football and I'd love to move the date of those drafts too. A week later would be a great draw, but it's a crowded date in this space already. I'm sticking to Labor Day weekend before any NFL games are played and hopefully we'll sell out our two events this year. We have the 14-team draft at $1400 per team and a $100,000 grand prize and we're offering the 12-team event this year at $750 per team ($2050 for both if you sign up before July 1st) with a $40,000 grand prize. And yes, we'll be adding an NFFC Online Championship this year at $350 per team and a guaranteed $20,000 grand prize. We're shooting for 300 teams, but if we get to 600 like we did in baseball we'll gladly bump that up to $40,000.
Thanks for allowing me to plug football.

[/QUOTE]It's possible, but the combination of opening weekend of March Madness, the NFBC and baseball early enough during spring training is special in Las Vegas. I can't guarantee that all the owners who come for that weekend would be loyal enough to come back the next weekend. In fact, some are out in Las Vegas for March Madness and add us as a bonus.
I'm not willing to find out right now by switching the dates, but adding a live 12-teamer the next weekend could be fun.
