How much is too much?

I watch maybe 10-20 baseball games the whole season with most of them being world series and playoff games. I enjoy playing fantasy baseball and can get all the info I need from boxscores, game recaps, watching baseball tonight on ESPN, etc...

Four for me, and add one throw away league in Yahoo.

You have to be in the Main Event, pure and simple. That is the one that everyone judges you on and has the largest possible payout.

And then you have to be in an auction. If you aren't or haven't, then you are missing the most fun available in fantasy baseball. To me, the auction experience is worth all of the money for every league. Six years and never once was it not the most fun I had all year long (in fantasy baseball that is).

This year you have to be in the online championship just for the sole fact that the potential payout is well worth the $350 entry fee.

Finally, satellite payouts are the best buy for the money. Doesn't make any sense to me to do all of the others and not do a satellite to try and cover your cost of playing.

I only do the Yahoo league because they have one of the best stat databases available. Easy to sort through, free, and it plays to the streamer in me. Other than that, I don't enjoy it nearly as much as the NFBC. The competition is mostly dead "money." It typically is where I get to enjoy winning

When I kick back, have a beer, and watch the ace of my staff wipe out the opponents, it is much more enjoyable if I don't own the 9 guys who are getting wiped out. There is definitely a point for me where the games get supersaturated with my fantasy players competing against one another and it's less fun to watch.

And why does it seem like every time my pitcher faces my hitter, the least desirable outcome (a walk) occurs?

Also, four teams is about as many teams as I want to manage before 'work' replaces 'fun'.

I agree with bjoak to a degree.

Rooting is a part of this game. It's bad enough it's roto (for rooting) and no H2H...and LONG. Remove rooting for specific players and it would take a big hit in enjoyment.

My goal this year is to actually be in the top 3rd of the overall from gate to gate. THAT will add tons of enjoyment...more than rooting!

I have 5 league this year, and could go 6 easy with the 2 draft champion leagues.

[/QUOTE]First year here, I hope this turn out into a good experience and maybe I'll show up in one of your venues next year. But I will still be drafting just one team. I believe if you're good you give it one shot to win the pool. Otherwise, you just drive yourself crazy and probably break even. But that's my opinion.

So far I like this site for the seriousness of the players and the high payouts. Other public sites including Sportsline may have better website features but they are ripoffs and lack good players. [/QUOTE]3 years ago I started off 1 main event team and 1 satellite. Now I feel comfortable with about 5 teams (not counting the slow draft team that has no FAAB) that I can dedicate serious time to. And that's what it comes down to, how much time to do you want to dedicate to your teams on Sunday.

I will say this, it's a good feeling when one of your hitters has a big day and then you remember that you don't have him on 2 teams but 3...oh wait ... 4 teams! Wait...was it 4 teams or 3? Ahh..still a good feeling!

This past football season was the first year I had more than two leagues for any specific sports season. I was in two local leagues with two sets of friends & one WCOFF online satellite. It was fun, so this baseball season, I upped the ante and have five teams....in the NFCC main, the NFCC online championships, a $500 NFCC satellite, a local league with friends and a online salary cap challenge on Fanball. I was also close to signing onto Fantasy Jungle's high stakes auction, but then saw that they had still not paid out on football and might go under.

I think there are positives & negatives to multiple teams....

Positives being multiple drafts (I love the draft experience in itself), the increased possibility of that great little surge you get when one of your players have a big game, and the increased possibility that you perform well in at least some of your leagues (I won one of my local leagues last year in football, but finished out of the money in the other two).

The negatives are the possibility that you cut bait on some teams if they're not performing well by mid-season (not really fair to other members of the league) and of course the possibility of divorce....my wife doesn't really get why I want to play one league, let alone five.
