You WILL be bidding on him aggressively since your OF depth is spotty and 2 that are starting make you a little nervous.

You dropped 1/4 of your FAAB budget last week but won't hesitate to spend THIS week either. You were hamstrung after the Scherzer bid last year and still came out ok. This give you confidence that you can operate on shoestring budget. very nicely done! how much do you recommend bidding on my first priority, let's say church?
[/QUOTE]However it's not really an either or scenario. You actually don't trust either to get you the required OF ab's. You'll throw a cursory bid out there but there's another player you're targeting. Someone you'll get on the cheap.

Gekko: At our auction I don't recall you bidding on Carpenter or Josh Johnson. You give us all this great advice on the message board but you don't practice it yourself. Misinformation?

How much you got left? $750? Go $375 on Church, and $350 on Murphy. Leave yourself $25 for the rest of the season.

i also spent for poodles so a lot of my money was off the table early. next year, i'll try harder to do better.

Josh Johnson was a player i really wanted and wassick to see him on Gekko's sleeper list.I was still able to get him in four of my seven leagues.

In the ultimate i was two pick's away from him in the 9th round and thought for sure he was mine till i heard Childs say Josh Johnson.I was in such shock that i had to pass on my turn, first time that ever happened.I just didnt like any starters like Johnson in that spot so finally took my 2nd closer.

Yeah that sucked.

Well I guess I helped create the "weakest league" in the NFBC. We dropped Church before the season even started, what the heck were we thinking? I guess the only good that came out of it was we picked up Emilio Bonifacio for him. Not a bad trade, since I feel Sheffield WILL get PT. And who is he going to take it from .... RF Ryan Church. Shef will hit against lefties in the coming days and then once Church goes on the DL, because he does every year ... will play everyday. Eitherway, we are ok the move and happy to allow someone to bid 300+ on a soon to be platoon player.

Nice pickup Slackerdan on Bonifacio,he could be the pickup of the year.I sTILL LIKE Church and even in a platoon he should get 450 at bat's.

SlackerDan Everyone seems to think Sheff will only platoon with Church. Then you better hope Murphy keeps hitting. Church is underrated, he was last year and is this year too. Before the concussion last season, he was hitting .300 and on pace for 30 HRs over 540 ABs. Even if you don't think he keeps up that pace, a .285, 25 HR season was coming. He looked good today and he's healthy. Church should get a minimum of 450 ABs but more likely around 500 ABs.

As far as health goes, I'd be more concerned about Sheffield's and, if Sheff hits the DL, then you're looking at 600 ABs.

In regards to your post, GG, I'm sure you noticed

Murphy's name lacking from the box score today against a RHP.

The real unanswered question is - who does Gekko really want???

I have an idea that it could well be the guy who put D Murphy on the bench 2 of the first three games.

Thinking this though…

I may have to lower my D.Murphy bid. If Byrd AND A.Jones are going to be cutting into his time (not sure about this), they will all lose out. Clearly, Hamilton and Cruz will be everyday players, so that leaves one spot for three guys. Ugh. Time to ramp up the Church bid!!! Remember, the highest I’ll go on Church is $150.

Looks like the thread worked. Good job GG:

NFBC New York League 6

Waiver Draft on 04/12

The Red Rockets Ryan Church (RF) 311 301

The Red Rockets David Murphy (LF) 123 5

$434 for Church and Murphy. Gekko, that was you with the $301 runner-up bid, right? :D
