Sad news..Nick Adenhart killed

Post by Quack & Willy » Thu Apr 09, 2009 4:23 am

TMZ.com reports that 22-year-old Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart was killed in a car accident hours after his start Thursday night against the A's.

According to the website: "Cops say someone driving a minivan blew through a red light, causing the Mitsubishi that Adenhart was riding in to hit a light pole. Three people were killed in the crash, including Nick." The van driving reportedly fled the scene before eventually being apprehended, and has been charged with felony hit-and-run.

This makes me sick to my stomach. What a terrible story to see on rotoworld (or anywhere for that matter). Not to add levity to the situation, but what is it with Angels pitchers? Are they all cursed?

Just a terrible tragedy.Fantasy baseball becomes a non issue when something like this happens.Something needs to be done about these maniacs getting behind the wheel and having no regard for human life whatsoever.R.I.P. NICK.

Wow, what a sad story. Makes you realize how important life is and to appreciate everything we have. A very sad story for a kid who had his whole life in front of him. RIP Nick

Although coincidental, I thought that it was appropriate that Chad Qualls new son story followed the Adenhart update.

RIP Nick, we hardly knew you. :(

He had to have been feeling pretty good about his performance last night. Nice young pitcher who had been turning the corner for a productive career. He was an intriguing pitcher this year. Then, in a blink, he is gone.

Another example of why we have to treasure those we love, because you just never know when tragedy is around the corner.

Unreal.. I remember Lyman Bostock. Incredible potential. Don't forget Donnie Moore.

Game might be cancelled tonight. It should be. Play a double-header later in the year. No reason to play today.

I watched his starts last year. He seemed like a kid who wanted it so bad that he was putting pressure on himself beyond belief. I watched a few innings last night and just thought the kid is starting to turn a corner. I felt good for him b/c it seemed like he was feeling like he belonged for the first time. In all that sadness I hope he did at least get that feeling for a moment.

As a parent your heart just breaks for his parents. They had to be so proud of him.

Wow...pulled up the archived game from last night (both the Giants and A's games were blacked out last night) on MLB.TV. and watching now.

Gotta feel for his family...very sad.

He'll always be an Angel.

A sad and tragic day. Reminded me of the Steve Olin & Tim Crews boating accident. Condolences to his family and the Angels organization.

How terrible is this...

We all take passing a Green Light for granted sometimes...

The Angels game will surely be canceled tonight...

Those guys are going to be in pieces...

The Angels pitching right now has been decimated...

Poor kid just shutout the A's for 6 inings too...

RIP Nick Adenhart
